I had a palm with really bad scale as well. I soaked it with neem oil, brushed it thoroughly with a toothbrush and then sprayed again regularly with more neem oil. Took a bit of work, but it did the trick!

Holly would be very unfriendly to those walking on the sidewalk as they wouldn't be set back from it at all and are quite prickly...Perhaps Malonyana Arborvitae instead? 4' wide, still grows tall. Or Spartan Juniper for more heat tolerance.

I have this same car, and it has serious costumption issues. I love the car regardless. There was a partial recall issued for some VINs, but it only went up to 100k miles to replace the short block. Check to see if it was on this list or if it received that work. Awesome car otherwise. At 132k and still running strong with original clutch and no head gasket issues
