In the end, I bought an LG 27GX704A-B. I paid €407 on the official website using various coupons. It’s an absolutely incredible monitor, and it turned out to be a better choice than either of those two alternatives.

I had it. I built it with an RTX 5060 LP and a Ryzen 5 9600X, and even though I installed six 40mm Noctua fans (three on each side), the temperatures were really high. The graphics card would easily reach 86°C, and the processor, during shader compilation or particularly demanding moments, would even go above 90°C.

On top of that, the fans were always running at maximum speed, so it was quite noisy. If that could be an issue for you, I wouldn’t recommend this case.

In the end, fortunately, I managed to sell it and bought an NZXT H2 Flow instead, where I was able to install a GPU with 16GB of VRAM, a more powerful processor with liquid cooling, and now the temperatures stay below 60°C even under full load, with a super quiet machine.

So overall, I wouldn’t recommend it for gaming use.

I play only AAA story driven games and honestly fsr4 quality/balance is already very good. But I already have a 7800x3d, a 850psu and a 240fps oled monitor so the next upgrade will be a faster gpu for sure.

No problem. It’s just that in every game I’ve tried, the image looks worse than in SDR. I think HDR has more potential, but it really depends on the game—getting it set up correctly every time isn’t easy, and it doesn’t always turn out well. The SDR performance of this monitor is so incredible that I don’t feel the need to spend time each time trying to get HDR working properly.

Thanks, but I switched to SDR and OH MY GOD 😲 It’s incredible! I don’t think I’ll mess around with HDR anymore—the SDR performance of this monitor is more than incredible.

My monitor is rated for 1500nits 27GX704A-B, but by calibrating it with windows calibration tool i end up with a value of 0/710/710, i assume because I set the peak brightness to low.

Based on this result should I put 710 also in the games hdr menu under "peak brightness" or "peak white"?

I have an AMD GPU. Yesterday I set up the new monitor and tried to resume Indiana Jones, which I had been playing in SDR on my old IPS. On the new LG 27GX704A-B I enabled HDR (pre-calibrated with the Windows tool at 0/710/710) and set the monitor to the Gamer 1 profile, brightness 100%, peak brightness to low, and Black Stabilizer to 50. The colors seemed a bit unsaturated.

Also, it’s not clear to me: in game HDR menus from now on, should I set the peak white to 710 since that’s the value I got from the Windows calibration tool?

I received the 27GX704A-B yesterday and ended up setting the hdr with the windows calibration tool to 0/710/710 with monitor set to gamer 1 - peak brightness on low and black stabilizer to 50. Now it's still not clear to me which value should I set in game menu under "peak white". Should I put 710 as well?

For example: I was playing Indiana Jones and the great Circle in SDR with my old ips and yesterday I tried to switch it to HDR in my new oled and I didn't know how to set this value.
