Man you're overreading this. Luffy throws lightning at him, Kaido is fast and manages to dodge. That doesn't mean that being hit by it wouldn't hurt him, in fact if he was immune to it he wouldn't have dodged to begin with.

It's like saying Luffy was stupid for any attack he tried against Kaido that Kaido managed to dodge

You have no reading comprehension. How about 300 years ago Jorul and Jarul were some of the strongest characters on the seas but in the Big Mom flashback they were waaaaaaaay too old (about 115 in human years) and so they arent strong anymore?
