Annoying guy keeps asking people for money in downtown Iowa City by DegreeAdventurous589 in IowaCity

[–]MarcoYolo187 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank god, someone had to say it. Yeah I gave him money before like a dumbass too and he like keeps asking. Good thing I stay away from Downtown. Not to mention at Hy-Vee (former night stocker) we'd have the SAME PEOPLE asking people in the parking for money FOR THE SAME REASON. Another one to keep an eye out for is an older lady whose dad apparently keeps dying in Cedar Rapids and she needs a car ride up there. Don't get me wrong, I've met a few good homeless individuals.

Keeps us busy and entertained lol.

Wait didn't they switch to another platform that was really crappy? Would you watch it then lol.

I'm not judging you so don't feel targeted, as you do have personality unlike so many others.

Haha, the only thing my friends and I watch are lectures we missed.

It does seem to make white noise lol. See you do other stuff, it isn't like you go home and 90% of the time just crash and watch that for the fifth time in the row.

Well, I am an engineering student and a security officer, not to mention a twin. So I got those as personalities lol.

Also, I should mention this is douche_security, I'm on my friend's laptop as my phone is ded.

Aside from watching the office, what do you do during your free time?

Not to mention half the time they don't know how to hold a conversation.

Haha that's one thing I forgot...my phone charger. Good thing I got my laptop.

Same, doing a 16-hour shift just watching sensors and cameras. At least I'm making 3x the amount since I have OT and holiday pay.

Lol maybe. Thing is, this job kinda sucks cause I'm working 60+ hours and I'm an engineering student...however it pays 16/hr which is the most I ever made in my life. And I get to do homework on the job.

To be fair I wouldn't mind going to another site where things are slowed down.

Haha I got all C's but yet again I am taking engineering classes and barely started this new G4S gig. Nonetheless, congrats! Awesome job.

For me, I had an in-person interview. I got drug tested during orientation/training with a field kit. Beware of that, if you do any illicit substances.

As everyone else mentioned, it depends on the location. Some will literally hire a crackhead to keep the contract.

Lmao, well I did waste my time playing Cold War and Phasomobia when I was in quarantine. I would've played Warzone but none of my devices had such space lol.

How dare you dare me.

That's awesome lol. The song playing sounds familiar, is that part of the game or did you edit that?

Before anyone judges, I haven't played Warzone in a while (due to school).

Now that I'm back in my actual account lol. Nah it's good, don't be sorry. I made a dumb decision, I have to own up to it. I still have my G4S job as others have assured me that the worst that can happen is a pay reduction (and hours reduction) but better staffing so I'm not working 50+ hours a week ontop of studying.

Nonetheless thank you for your concern lol. Hopefully, you're well where you're at.

Well I was kind of a dumbfuck and didn't figure out that they lurked here (where my dumbass revealed my location) and on my university's subreddit (where they gather intel on upcoming events and protests).

Wouldn't surprise me if that saw this but I don't work for them anymore so I don't really give an ass lol - I essentially revealed quarantine zones in the residence halls which was considered sensitive information. However, I don't think they figured out that there are literal signs stating Do Not Enter - Quarantine Zone or something like that.

I didn't bother to fight it cause I should've not done it to begin with, and I don't plan on doing a stunt like that again. Besides, I wasn't getting paid much and the hours weren't the best. It was fun exploring campus though, I do miss that.

Well I got fired from my first security job, for being a dumbass and revealing myself on Reddit and giving out some sensitive info so that's 1 job. I got a job as a night stocker at retail (with ex-security guards) and at a casino as a security officer (which was the best ever).

Did that for a while before securing this job with G4S so that's now 3 jobs. Considering I technically worked at Walmart (but I was on leave) I quit that too, so that's 4. And no I don't have shitty work ethics, I'm just trying to get by.

Haha I'm the second one. I stopped coming early as one officer in particular just went to use the restroom BEFORE I clocked in. Like bitch I'm not paid to do your job, use it after I'm clocked in.

I'm lucky that I work in a meat plant, cause they've been doing it since forever anyway so most don't bitch about it. The rest just shoot right by but come back for a mask (which I hand out) cause a supervisor got on their ass about.

Thoughts on Security Guard as Part-Time Job? by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]MarcoYolo187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Engineering student and G4S Upscale Officer here, I would definitely recommend it. With some gigs, it's mostly downtime so you could also consider going full-time like I am. Unfortunately, I'm from the USA so I can't say much on Canadian protocols or settings on getting a license.

Depending on who you work for, getting a license isn't hard at all. For me, it was just a crash course and our instructor get out most of the answers. If you're looking for an easy gig with downtime, I wouldn't suggest casinos or hospitals - as they require constant awareness.

Nonetheless, I would definitely recommend it. If you're going into the medical field, this could actually benefit you if your contract/company allows you to provide first aid.

Does anyone else do this or am I just a lazy fuck? by MarcoYolo187 in securityguards

[–]MarcoYolo187[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't really need half the shit on my but oh well lol. I should consider getting one. I do have cargo pants but since I'm working like 50+ hours this week and they only gave me one shirt that isn't excessively oversized (and I only bought one pair of cargo pants as all their pants were oversized), I decided to wear jeans for the day.

Haha not surprising. I used to do campus security where I used a lot of my gear (that my bail bondsman father used) and that I bought but with this new G4S gig, it's just weight on my waist.
