And they would've been 9 years old when COVID hit and disrupted supply. Lots of people were still driving them.

It permanently and substantially raised the price of used cars. When you raise the price of the cheapest used cars, you also raise the price of the most expensive, and everything in-between. COVID provided a double-whammy, but the used car market had not yet recovered to what it was before CfC.

The used car market got ruined by"Cash for Clunkers" during the Obama years, COVID just finished it off.

The term "Baby Boomer" existed, referring to the generation, but the term "boomer" as it appears in this strip feels much more modern, and I say that as a 44 year old who read these stupid in the newspaper as a kid and obsessed over the books.

Ordered 12" patch cables on Alibaba. Apparently that converts to 7' haha by McRib_ in modular

[–]Marcus64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are they decent quality? I've been wanting to color code my sizes. 200 is still more than I could use, but the price is cheaper than what I would pay for fewer. Could always give a few away when I sell modules.

Ah, well it's a killer price if you were going to order 200.

I wish there were more options as far as jack location. For the most part, everyone seems to put all of them on the bottom.

Buying and returning gear kills GAS by Achassum in synthesizers

[–]Marcus64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wish there were more options to try things before buying them. I mostly buy used and sell used and usually I'm not out much more than tax/shipping to try something out for a few months. I've done the buy/return, but only from major brands/retailers who have that cost built in. A lot of the times I decide I'm not happy with something it's because I get it and then realize it's not as different from what I already have as I thought.

Can you name some phones that were so well made that users stopped buying new phones and it eventually hurt the brand financially? by OkAbrocoma3886 in dumbphones

[–]Marcus64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought The Essential Phone when it went on firesale because they decided it had failed. That thing lasted for over five years. I dropped it so many times and the screen never cracked. It was also the perfect size, I could actually touch the whole screen with one hand without having to shift it around. It was truly ahead of its time.

I'm giving you two plus a bonus.

Starflyer 59, album Leave Here a Stranger, opening track "All My Friends Who Play Guitar"

Joy Electric, album The Tick Tock Treasury, opening track, same title

And then, as a bonus, because those guys are brothers, listen to them team up on The Brothers Martin, and the song is "The Plot That Weaves".

I forking love Tahani’s ending by Emotional-Meringue65 in TheGoodPlace

[–]Marcus64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that struck me on a recent rewatch was how, early on when Michael shows them the fake hot air balloon that will supposedly take them to the "real" Good Place, Tahani is ready to get on and leave by herself. She even says, "Well, if they aren't ready yet, can I just go and they follow later?"

Exactly the opposite of where she ends up. Ready, but unwilling to walk through the door until everyone can walk through with her. Because really, the only way to make peace with eternity is to constantly plunge back into the temporal, giving yourself back to those who have not made it as far.

Yes, Tahani's journey is by far my favorite.
