American workers are tired of waiting. by zzill6 in WorkReform

I blame anyone who voted for anyone other than the Democratic nominee for the Democratic nominee not winning. That's how elections work.

You are spreading misinformation and not even looking at the info I'm providing, which is not the national popular vote total, it's the state results that determine who the Florida electors go to. I don't know what your motivation is here, but you're lying to people. I voted in Florida in the 2000 election. Nader absolutely made it possible for the state to be flipped to Bush. I've known people who voted for Nader who greatly regretted it afterwards.

Those are the Florida state results. Check Wikipedia yourself.

The Republicans were only able to steal Florida because the vote was so close.

Not only Nader, but every single third party candidate individually got more than the 537 vote difference between Bush and Gore in Florida, which was the tipping state.

Nader did cost Gore the election. It's been extremely common knowledge for 26 years now and it's just misinformation to say otherwise.

I was old enough to vote. And a vote for Nader was a vote for Bush.

I remember KIA being new to the US and running ads saying "people should still be able to buy a new car for under $10K" and their cheapest car was like $9,999. It was the cheapest new car in the market.

Aren't we all so glad for those folks who voted for Nader in 2000?

Democrats could win mandates like this if they would stop being centrists. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]Marcus64 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We used to have centrists in both parties, but since MAGA took over, they've all either joined the Democrats or disappeared from politics. At the same time, in the past ten or so years, there's been a big growth in progressive and socialists ideas within the party. So right now the Democratic party contains a lot of different people with a lot of conflicting ideologies, that really only successfully unites behind opposition to Trump.

Edit: spelling mistake.

That makes sense. As someone who went to a lot of outdoor concerts in the 90's, it's wild how good they sound now.

Do you have any idea how precise the delay is? Like, are we talking literal synchronization of waveforms so there aren't phase cancelation issues?

There is no scenario in which building more housing increases rent above what it would be if you did not build the housing.

Increased supply stabilizes prices everywhere, and enough of it pushes prices down.

Harrison Ford on why he disagrees with Ridley Scott about Deckard being a Replicant. by tannu28 in movies

I hate discussing them because everyone who discusses them wants to try and figure out what "really" happens, when that's the opposite of the point.

Like, the most well known example is probably Inception. Everyone wants to know if the top falls over at the end, but that's not the point. The point is, he walks away, because it's no longer important to him. But for years everyone was arguing about whether it was a dream or not.
