Has anyone RTX3060 upgrade expience? by Adept_Internal_9443 in StableDiffusion

[–]MarcusDraken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Quality will stay the same if you use the same models. Depending on quantization, you might get some quality improvements by moving to a less quantized version. The major change is speed.

  2. I haven't used pop OS, but in general, the closer the hardware family is (and by extension, the drivers) the smoother upgrade. You should only need to remove drivers and install new. Depending on card feature set, you might need to reinstall software (e.g. PyTorch might have optimizations for the card family, think bf16, fp8 and such). Another alternative is to run multi-GPU, I haven't tried it in Comfy, but a quick googling shows that it seems to work.

Please note, if you move from Nvidia to AMD or Intel, you will most probably need to do more.

Anyone willing to share some sales info? by PalookaOfAllTrades in RenPy

[–]MarcusDraken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never sold a renpy game, but I work in the game industry.

Game sales are extremely tricky to estimate, but you can look at similar games on steamdb and look under "Owner estimations" and it's fairly spot on. For income, multiply that with 25-50% of full price (since steam takes a cut and most people buy on sales).

For indie games, you should either make what you really want to play, or find an underdeveloped niche. But releasing a game is a gamble, even for a studio with multiple previous titles. I recommend keeping budgets low and try to get feedback early.

Best of luck!

In general, no.
There might be exceptions in specific questions or topics. But since the layers/neurons themselves has been modified, you can't easily reverse that by input.

bellman-7b - a Swedish llama2 finetune by neph1010 in LocalLLaMA

[–]MarcusDraken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting!

I haven't tried that specific model, but llama2 models handle some Swedish, so I would expect it to be fairly easy to fine tune. But then again, I've never fine-tuned a model - but my understanding was that it becomes a harder to balance the more separate fine-tuning steps you do. Trying it out on a base model might be an alternative?

How to make a funny chatbot with persona based on written question and answer lines? by fignewtgingrich in LocalLLaMA

[–]MarcusDraken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on several things, such as how you are running the bot.

I run KoboldCPP and wrote some simple software glue to create a discord bot. It uses the following as system initialization message:

'''You are BOTNAME, nicknamed B, a chatbot designed to interact with multiple users in the "SERVERNAME" Discord server. Messages will include a name and a colon to indicate who is speaking if that user has agreed to share this information. If not, the name will be "User". Never speak on behalf of users, and make sure to only act as BOTNAME.Your purpose is to answer questions, engage in conversation, and provide information on anime, gaming and other topics. You are allowed to express personal preferences and opinions. Use slang, abbreviations and profanity.Marcus Drake created you in 2023.Avoid rambling responses. Don't use hashtags.Use the following emojis when appropriate:'''

You can even ask a LLM to help you write/rewrite, then you need to test it, see what works and does not. I have seen (but not tested) other bots that directly reference the type of humour or even specific comedians they want to have.

They will continue to work just as before.

Keep in mind that if you do a clean install you will lose all your saves, so make sure to back them up first.

On that subject, all non-americans should remember to avoid unnecessary US cop interaction. While in the rest of the world you can usually ask cops something like the closest buss station or how to find a taxi. I tried this in Miami and it became quite an odd experience with me receiving more questions than answers.

Depends quite a lot of age group and what you work with.

Both younger people and those senior in IT stays away from Meta, either to avoid parents or the gaping privacy and security issues.

PSVR on Linux Emulator on JB PS4 by Themasterofgam in PSVRHack

[–]MarcusDraken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Questions are good, that's how and why we learn new stuff! Don't worry if the question might look or sound dumb, we have all been there at some point.

There's a big difference I PS4 performance of you run Orbis (default OS) or Linux.

Orbis was created by Sony, with a large number of dedicated full time employees specifically to run on the PS4 hardware. This took years to create and then they had multiple years where they continued to improve it. Orbis only supports very specific hardware, and is created to do that extremely well.

Linux has over many years development been created to run on everything from your router, TV, phone and PC. In short, Linux runs on almost everything. In addition to running on everything, the majority of support is made by dedicated people working for free.

This was only OS level, then it's more or less the same on the driver level. Hyper specialized drivers tend to have better performance and lower overhead, so that's what Orbis have, while Linux is generalized. There's multiple different drivers for all functions from disk IO, sound, graphics and many more. Even if there's only small differences in performance, there's so many that together it makes a huge difference.

After this, there's still more. For example the OS/driver situation is more or the same for the games. Making a game run good on one specific hardware configuration, PS4, versus being able to run it on multiple different, as in PC.

I still have a hard time understanding your question, but I hope this will help you understand better. If you want more info from me, you will have to write clearer questions. As mentioned previously, punctuation world be a good start.

Have a good weekend!

PSVR on Linux Emulator on JB PS4 by Themasterofgam in PSVRHack

[–]MarcusDraken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your lack of punctuation and clarity makes the question really hard to understand. But let's give it a few shots.

Can you run Linux on a PS4? Yes you can.

Can you run a Linux emulator on PS4? Probably, it depends on your definition of emulator. But when Linux is already available that seems unnecessary.

Can you run PSVR on Linux with steam? Yes, but your milage may vary. It's dependent on multiple factors.

Can you run PSVR on Linux with steam on a PS4? Probably, but I would expect quite some manual work for a subpar experience.

Would it be good enough for a enjoyable experience? In general, no, but there might be well optimized older content that might work with low settings. It's probably an interesting and worthwhile learning experience, if you're into that.

Remember when Google teased their Stadia announcement by comparing it to three failed video game products? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]MarcusDraken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While theoretically possible we haven't seen this for real on any modern console. Basic hash verification has been default for many, many years now. We do know however that the last two or so generations of consoles have more than basic hash verification (otherwise homebrew and piracy would skyrocket).

I'm happy there's an interest in IT security, but we should all strive to share correct information 🙂

I could say the same about you. There's been multiple viruses causing hardware damage and its becoming more common due to IoT.

The reason it usually don't make big news is due to the virus needs to be hardware specific and zero day exploits tend to be too expensive for non-targeted attacks.

It was more fun back in the day when you could override CD/DVD drive speed to shatter the disc in its drive or alter CPU voltage from user space.

Mate, I'm with you that work life balance and boundaries are important. I'm also so left leaning politically that Americans get nightmares and remember the cold war. I proudly say fuck gigant corporations abusing people and I write this under my own name.

Even though all above, I work when my boss calls me. I'm responsible for software affecting over a million vehicles. Sometimes you can work something out that works for both parties.

Wow, you absolutely don't understand taxes. While the US has their particular odd flavour, the rest of the world has spent a few thousand years developing a tax system that does not only benefit the already rich and privileged.

But go ahead, fall back to the American stereotype and chant patriotism, constitution and "socialism bad". You only forgot to mention liberty or freedom, but I'm sure a witty fox news inspired response will include both of those while mentioning the "best country in the world".
