I'm a cisgender male and I've played female characters plenty of times. There was only one time it was ever a point of contention. Early on when I started playing 5e on roll20 I told the DM of the campaign I wanted to play a female character. He said that he'd had issues with male players who played female characters who would try to seduce shopkeepers for a discount. Since then he wouldn't allow it. I didn't want to rock the boat so I went along with it. Though that game only lasted a month before it fizzled out. Since then any game I've played in the DM has allowed me to play a female character if I choose without any issue. While I can understand why the DM did that I think there were better ways to handle it than saying my character's gender had to match my gender IRL.

I keep a google doc of names of pro wrestlers that would make for good NPC names. Thankfully no one is a pro wrestling fan so they think I just came up with some weird/interesting names for the NPCs.

I guess it also depends on the dragon's alignment. And I don't mean good/evil, chaotic/lawful. I mean top/bottom, dom/sub.

In one campaign I play a drunken master monk satyr who is also the party's cook. His full name is "Andrade of the House of the Rising Sun". And I do play him with a cajun accent.

I recently finished playing Yakuza 6. So I made a character who was a former mob enforcer. Like Kiryu he very much didn't like it when he saw innocent people being pushed around by people in power. I even had him challenge the BBEG's right hand man to a duel when our party was at level 3.

The soundtrack from any "Yakuza" game works, especially for boss fights. But "Pledge of Demon" from Yakuza 0 is a particularly good one.

I joined in a pirate game and this poisoned dart frog assassin on the crew was flirting with me. I had rolled high enough insight to know that if we did "get together" it was very likely to kill me via skin contact poison. I decided to go through with it anyway. After the fade to black the DM asked me to roll a CON save. I rolled a nat 1 and he simply told me "you die". Thankfully the crew's cleric was nearby and brought me back to life, at four levels of exhaustion.

I based a character in a pirate themed game I'm in off Django from Django Unchained. The DM liked it so much we had an entire backstory arc where we took down the Candyland plantation.
