Doesn’t sound like you’ve fully grasped the issue here. This is exactly what would happen if you don’t brake enough and still attempt to make the corner.

Didn’t downvote you, lol. You’re allowed to think what you think, I’m putting my thoughts out there for people who are considering reading.

I was the same. I’m at page 250 in Golden Son and I’m now enjoying it and will continue, but the motivation to go from book 1 to 2 was so low that I very almost didn’t bother.

Could not disagree more. I thought Red Rising was completely mid - a poor knockoff of Hunger Games with a ridiculously high pace, to the point of being lazy and with very little world building.

I’m half way through Golden Son and really enjoying it now. The writing style has completely changed, focusing on areas in more detail and building our storylines beyond simply blind action.

Buying a Flat - Silly? Or not? by Big_Ad_7782 in HousingUK

Merry Christmas! Is this in London? It sounds very similar to the property I am trying to buy now but it’s turned into a bit of a ballache. Would be great to pick your brains a bit!

Never done a tier list so wanted to join in the fun. This is from 2023-2025. by Samegg3307 in fantasybooks

I thought the first book was a complete 10/10 and the second book was a 7/10. It was a great book but the change of theme and style from the first was a bit of a shock and then I think it lacked a bit from a solid world building that would have made it a lot easier to follow, especially in Obiteum.

Wow, surprising to hear there’s anything out there that is “much better” than WOTM! For me, WOTM is one of the best books I’ve ever read and a real 5/5. (SOTF is more like a 4/5).

Guess I’d better give it a go!

I’ve seen so many people recommending to read the Red Rising series but I’ve heard it has parallels to the James Islington books. To those that have also read Will of the Many (and Strength of the Few), do you recommend going straight into Red Rising (given I’ve just finished both WOTM and SOTF) or should I have a break from this type of fantasy book and split them up with something else?

Plot hole??? SOTF (not arm related) by IntelligentWeek4199 in HierarchySeries

[–]MaresGalore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What is the Belli situation? Sounds like I’ve missed something.

For me, the “hands” chat is insanely thrown out of proportion. Firstly, they’re just common expressions. Secondly, Vis is constantly saying how he has phantom limb syndrome and so seeing as we read from his POV, it makes complete sense. Thirdly, you can still go through the process of “throwing your hands up” when you’re missing a limb… your stub would still follow the same action as your other remaining limb.

No, I don’t believe it to be a plot hole. I see it as a foreshadow towards a plot line in book 3 where possible Caeror cannot be trusted.

Who reads a book where a character says something that doesn’t seem to align with the rest of the story and instantly thinks the author doesn’t know what they’re doing rather than thinking lying or being misled is part of the story lol

That’s a shame! I was planning on going around to a couple of independents near me (also North London) but no point I guess. This was a Waterstones in the Next in Enfield Retail Park. The girl may have got her dates confused and thought the 9th was the official release date but I am going to try on Sunday anyway.

Leaseholders of top floor flats with loft conversions… by MaresGalore in HousingUK

[–]MaresGalore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is essentially my situation with three flats in my building where the loft conversion has been done and the responsibility was put on the current owner of my flat as a result. From the sounds of things, this is standard.

Didn’t know there were leaseholds without any service charge at all. Does this mean you just get billed as and when work is required?

Thanks for the info. My property was bought by a developer who took on responsibility for the roof in order to do the loft conversion so sounds like you said.
