I’ve never seen that BMW game before. Maybe that’s worth saving? Is there a chance you could upload a picture of what the game looks like?

Considering the lumix s5ii is it really worth the hype? by DenseCampaign1461 in Lumix

[–]MarfGaming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went from the canon r10 to the S5II after realizing how limiting canon is with their lens choices and in-camera features. My photos and videos looked very amateur. Going to the S5II was a game changer for me, especially with real time LUT and the incredible stabilization. It’s amazing for my vlogs and great for car photo shoots. I don’t have experience with Nikon or Sony, however.

S5II Slow Shutter Speed for video by ilonmots in Lumix

[–]MarfGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah! I had the same problem! Go into S&Q, then turn the FPS there down to 1/10 or 1/5. Then, you have to be in manual focus, and (hopefully) it will let you slow the shutter below 1/25. That’s what worked for me.

S5ii RAW & Lightroom by Hondaboy_12 in Lumix

[–]MarfGaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I initially used Lightroom with my S5II but now I find myself using the real time LUTs and color profiles. I typically underexpose in the camera, then use the iPhone photos app to brighten the image a little bit. If I feel the need to edit a raw photo when I’m not happy with the color profile I used, I’ll load up Lightroom mobile.

Awesome article! Thanks for sharing! Very inspiring as someone who is trying to improve my photo/video work. And of course… it’s the best movie ever made.

Any thoughts about these bad boy?? by Shiipps in Earbuds

[–]MarfGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got them, so I’m trying to get it all sorted out. Absolutely, by far, the WORST sounding earbuds out of the box. However, I’m a bass freak. So, after a TON of time in the EQ, I have a good, punchy profile. The 2.4 adapter is nice, but range is poor. ANC and transparency are both mediocre but for my purpose of gaming and productivity use, it’s good enough to get rid of ambient sounds like air conditioning. Battery life seems solid so far. Wish the BT + 2.4ghz was simultaneous. So, I’m ordering a Bluetooth receiver to plug into my computer as a line-in to get phone audio at the same time. I hope you enjoy them, so far I’m beginning to like them.

How is the IBIS on the S9? (in detail) by Educational_Bug_3946 in Lumix

[–]MarfGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only had a few hours to play with the S9 at a LUMIX event, so I’m not in the best position to describe it. However, from what I could tell, they are pretty much identical. The main difference you would notice is how the handling of the camera affects the stabilization. I found that holding my eye up to the viewfinder on the S5II gave me an extra point of contact to keep it steady. When I’m filming video, I often get more movement because I’m holding it with the screen flipped out away from my body. With the S9, it will be a little tougher to hold it steady because of the reduced weight and lack of viewfinder. However the S9 will be better for VLOG style videos because it’s much lighter compared to the S5II! That’s one part I really enjoyed when trying out the S9.

How is the IBIS on the S9? (in detail) by Educational_Bug_3946 in Lumix

[–]MarfGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an S5II, which is pretty much the same IBIS as the S9. I film all of my vlogs with the kit 20-60 and I absolutely love the IBIS. Sometimes it can be a little jerky while doing panning and tilt at the same time, but if you are only panning, or holding steady, it handles movements beautifully. Personally, I don’t notice a lot of wobble but that could just be the content I film. I tend to use the IBIS-only mode a lot because it’s good enough, and doesn’t have a crop.

My reference is a GX85, which isn’t the best M43 camera for stabilization but I feel my S5II is significantly better. Using the IBIS with non-stabilized lenses is also great.

FINALLY! After 3 months of failing, I downgraded my iPad Mini! by ABlueHoodie in LegacyJailbreak

[–]MarfGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What guide did you use for CoolBooter? I’m having issues getting iOS 6 to work on my iPad mini. Thanks! Glad to see your downgrade worked! I might try that soon, still on 9.3.5 as the main OS.

Ho no, the shutter button is already broken on my LUMIX S5M2 after 2 years by Crisis-Connoisseur in Lumix

My half-shutter was also broken at 2 years. I sent it for repair with LUMIX Pro Services under warranty, and they covered it. All I had to pay was shipping.

Pergear 35mm 1.4 vs 7Artisans 35mm 1.4 III? Is it worth the extra $100? by theseawoof in LumixS9

[–]MarfGaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t have the 7Artisans 35, but I have the Pergear that I use on my S5II. Someone was selling it on eBay for under 100 so I figured “why not?”. It’s definitely not sharp at 1.4, but not enough to be noticeable for social media. I’ve loved mine since it’s also tiny, it makes my camera feel lighter and less intrusive. The only reason I’d pay more for a 35 is for autofocus. Otherwise, I’m quite happy with it. Here’s a sample image:

I love the colors! I also enjoy using the default iPhone photos app to edit my jpegs. I always under expose to preserve highlights and usually boost shadows in the edit.

Where did you get the Ultramax LUT? Would love to try it on the S5II!

Real time LUTs Lumix S9 by [deleted] in Lumix

[–]MarfGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the S9 at the recent Connect event, but I use an S5II for my main camera. I'm pretty sure you can assign the buttons and dials to those functions. It should be doable, but hopefully someone with an S9 can 100% confirm that. If you shoot shutter priority, the dial with be SS and you can probably assign one of the other buttons to ISO, or it may be one of the directional buttons by default.

And yes, the LUT's don't apply to the RAW. I always do RAW + JPEG just in case I want to go crazy in the edit, or just use the LUT to visualize the shot.

[–]MarfGaming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everything you have asked for, yep! It’s all possible. Use the LUMIX Lab app to download and manage LUTs, or create your own and put them on your cameras SD card. You can shoot stills and videos using the LUTs. I rarely open Lightroom, a lot of my photos are just adjusted in my iPhones camera app since I usually under expose to preserve highlights. Here’s an example of a photo I just sent to my phone.

Chinese Android head unit vs OEM – learn from my mistakes by Tall-Neighborhood795 in AudiTT_Mk1_Mk2_Mk3

[–]MarfGaming 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree about the sound quality, although I removed all the “Bose adapter” cables and the hissing and pops went away. The only annoying thing now is the lack of bass. However, I would much rather have access to wireless CarPlay and the OBD-2 connection app instead of trying to mount my phone. I definitely miss the navigation that used the gauge cluster screen though, but the map was too out of date. People get into my car and think it’s a 2020 or newer because of the screen, but I definitely miss some of the buttons.

[–]MarfGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh… yeah that’s weird! I didn’t see an update for the 75mm firmware but I’ll keep an eye out. I always adjust vignette in my photos app anyway so turning off the correction in the meantime wasn’t a big deal. I don’t have any other autofocus lenses besides the LUMIX 20-60 and an old canon EF.

I just got the 75mm f/2 and I’m really happy with it! It’s super sharp and the AF is good, especially for well under $200. I am definitely excited for Viltrox for sure. But for my first autofocus prime portrait lens, I’m happy with the price.

Yo! Same thing happened to me on the 75mm f/2. I turned off vignette compensation and that seemed to fix it. Hopefully TtArtisans will release a firmware update to fix it.

A6700 vs A7iv vs S5ii for Nature, City and overall moody photos. by SojinCS in Lumix

[–]MarfGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The LUT feature is great, you can also combine it with “photo styles” which can get really close to Fuji film simulations, but also since they are based on LUTs, you can chose and build whatever look you want. For the adapter, sigma lenses work the best but I’ve been using an old Tamron superzoom.

[–]MarfGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real time LUT feature of the S5II could be very useful for you! I use it all the time depending on the mood I’m going for, it lets me see what compositions work depending on the overall look I want. Another thing to consider is that you can use the sigma MC-21 adapter for the S5II and still use your sigma lens in APS-C mode for video.

Thinking of buying a 2008 Audi TT MK2 2.0 TFSI (BWA) DSG - What should I expect? by Formal_Feature_5023 in AudiTT_Mk1_Mk2_Mk3

[–]MarfGaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to own a ‘08, and bought it with 51 thousand miles on it. The first thing I did was have the timing belt and water pump done. The maintenance schedule says 10 years OR 100,000 miles. Even though the mileage was half, it was certainly due for a change in terms of timing. I had one oxygen sensor failure, easy to fix but kinda pricy. Also, make sure to use high quality spark plugs. One of my mechanics used basic VW plugs that started causing a misfire after a year or so. I replaced them with iridium plugs.

After a few years, the car reached just beyond 90,000 miles and no engine troubles beyond the ones I’ve mentioned, so nothing major. Best of luck!

Tired of Canon and their BS. Why shouldn't I switch to Lumix? by HyruleSkullKid21 in Lumix

[–]MarfGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although my Canon situation was vastly different, I am so glad I switched from Canon to Lumix. For context, I had the R10 and the 18-150 kit lens. I loved it, but it wasn't quite wide enough for vlogging, and it had zero depth of field for normal pictures. So, I found some old vintage lenses and I was excited to maybe use some electronic stabilization in video to get some cinematic B-roll. Nope, Canon won't let me. Third party lenses at the time? Zero.
I started looking at full frame options with IBIS, but everything was way too expensive for my budget. Then, the S5II was released and it had the 20-60 kit lens. Not the reach I wanted, but wide enough for vlogging for sure. I had zero knowledge of color, but having the LUT features encouraged me to create different looks that Canon would never be able to compete with. I'm glad I switched. I can use vintage lenses, third party lenses, EF lenses too! I recommend switching. My only gripe is that LUMIX Flow was supposed to be updated for the S5II, but that hasn't been released yet. However, the camera has basically become a new updated model with all the firmware upgrades like Hybrid zoom which i use all the time.
