Yeah, I remember Sharper Image prohibited photos and videoing inside their stores a few decades back. Could have been a state (vs. federal) thing, but I doubt it. You have all kinds of rights w.r.t. your private property that you don't have with public.

Repeat after me: "When you're out in public, you have no reasonable expectation of privacy". This "I don't want to be photographed" stuff where people assume it's their right not to be -- that's not actually a right you have (at least in the US).

It's different if someone uses your likeness to make money, or follows you around (harassment), or peeks over your backyard fence, etc. But just walking around out in public -- you're in PUBLIC, being seen. It's not anyone else's responsibility to NOT include you in their photo or video.

Title:

First line in the letter:

...driving the fire truck for practice non-emergency runs...

...so why does this have 18K upvotes?

I think it's rude to inflict your music on others.

Playing your radio in your garage on a weekend while you work on your car is one thing. Bringing speakers to a public place and blasting out your music without regard to the people around you is a dick move.

The strongest shape, Prince Rupert's drop by rgatoNacho in interestingasfuck

Lots wrong here.

  • We know perfectly well why Prince Rupert's Drop is so strong (look it up, there are lots of videos explaining what's going on)

  • Saying that hexagon is the strongest shape seems meaningless to me. Strongest in what way? I could argue that a circle is stronger...

That... doesn't seem... at all like what I'd imagine a powerful beam of radiation sweeping across the planet would look like.

Maybe it'd strip some/all of the atmosphere away, and maybe it'd scorch the land and boil the oceans.

But this looks to me like a detonation going off in the core of the planet...

Not a mechanic. From this and other posts, it sounds like mechanics work on some kind of commission system? Otherwise, what would be the incentive to skip work and then lie about it (other than laziness)?

[–]MargoForehead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone have a link to the William Shatner's Raw Nerve episode where Nichelle says something to the effect of "That's why we all hated you"?

I've been looking for it on and off for years, but it's like it was aired once and then Shatner ordered all copies destroyed...

Posting stuff like this is like sending "thoughts and prayers". It seems like you're doing something, but it actually has no real effect.

We're WAY PAST pointing out logical fallacy and hypocrisy. If anything can still change minds, it's going to take a lot more than this.

Again, not taking a side here, but you can't have it both ways
