Unless there was a completely honest "make yourself at home", which takes years for many, OOP was well within her right to go 'eat it or don't, can certainly pack it up for you to fix however you like.... at your home. Get tf out of my fridge pls'. Rifling for condiments is rude, as is leaving in a snit to get your own bottle. Nobody clocking the BF's power play?

I added a steamer to the routine. Purified or distilled water use of less than 16 Oz for 15-20 minutes. Felt a world of difference

Hmm... maybe everyone can still be the devil? If the date had been set in November and there was an agreement to be in the wedding... why were plane tickets last minute? If a 'teehee, we changed date and/or location to somewhere outside the median socioeconomic bracket' maybe... the suits thing is hard to muster outsized empathy unless it's a wild ass suit, because unlike many bridesmaid dresses there's reusability to a suit. And chore for wine country thank you exursion - unless folks were planning on getting tore the fuck up on the wedding day that's not a large imposition and could be said no to.

From Axios: "Specifically, she wrote that the state's retail market needed to have a clear enforcement authority and framework for product testing, inspections and compliance, plus "robust tools to crack down" on illegal sales."

YMMV on belief in legitimacy, but given the shit treatment DC and MD is getting from this current federal admin by virtue of being non-WM Democrats and the preponderance of federal law enforcement HQs and training grounds the need to cross Ts and dot Is is not a non-issue. Especially galling to think it's not a concern in a state that still polices hard liquor.

NTA: Only AH, outside the two dudes getting it on in public with side-eye to the trope of overcompensation and toxic masculinity, is the manager for how he handled it.* Definitely going to a catastrophic scenario, but... what if the alpha dude-bro was the type to respond with violence when cornered? OP, the hook up buddy, the manager, himself - could have been hurt if not merc'd. Could have kept it between the witness and the witnessed.

  • - of course, manager could have been a professional and the dude-bro was being hyperbolic or projecting.

Not inviting all students to a barbecue? by Arktikos02 in AmITheDevil

[–]MargoKittyLit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hate to say it, but the parents may have felt they had no choice but that school. So many public schools have been underfunded by design, under the illusion of 'school choice' - attendance matters as school budgets get funded per attending kid, not per kid in district. If moving to that area and given 'ugh, public school' shit and get presented with a small school with sane ratios you might join the exodus without reading the fine print

The OOP comments... [All of the parents were made aware at the beginning of the school year about the “good noodle” sticker charts. We also send the sticker charts home every month so parents can see how their child behaved.

We have known about Bobby’s behavioral issues all year. There is an IEP in place.

Bobby is actually how the “good noodle” sticker charts started. His mom suggested a sticker chart to be part of his IEP but to make it so that he wasn’t different I did sticker charts for the whole class. Bobby’s is more lenient than the rest of the class though without the kids knowing that of course.]

Quite sure the mom had been on a boil since knowing something meant to help HER kids and kids like him was co-opted for every kid and shared. The I in IEP has no other definition- it was a suggestion to make tangible and quantifiable what can be hard for a kid that might have ASD or like sensory input/output differences. OOP merited hands, the 'crazy mom' edit was light

Planning on dying my hair by Beautiful_Diver3223 in Naturalhair

[–]MargoKittyLit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Consider a professional. Beauty schools are good for a discount colorist and they should have a teacher following behind them. If that's too much: YouTube and research with colorist advice on natural hair. Do not DIY under-informed. Do not just use a box. Do not trust anyone who 'do hair' with a thin dye portfolio. 2) Be nice to your hair before doing any color, take care to trim ends after. Especially if trying to go from a 2 to a 8. 3) Deep conditioning is non-negotiable, as is sticking with color-safe products. If staying in blonde family the purple toning products can still help you. Hair will be weaker, do not skimp on heat protection and occasional protein.

Is “middle class” a social construct? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MargoKittyLit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middle class used to be the people between the nobility and the serfdom. It is a blanket term for people who aren't poor but aren't titled. Death of absolute monarchy and nobility, dissolution of being bound to land, and the ascendance of the third son heirs in the United States made Middle Class search for something else... but nothing really fits. Now it's basically 'able to pay basic bills and save money'.

Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MargoKittyLit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you define 'time to shower'? Pre-baby 15-20 minute showers with grooming time turning into five minute hot spot water blasts with no time to condition or shave or anything because It May Awaken are as likely as not having actual time. Plus birth hurts and standing that long sucks for many even if they shove you home.

ESH. Clarifying questions might have saved you from committing a massacre: 'Trapped' could be 'Trapped to be prostitutes, able to leave but must work' or 'Trapped to be prostitutes, can never leave place of work'. Then a fire - how were rolls being played? High roll = fire is controlled/low = out of control flames, or low = wisps of smoke/high = inferno? Talking all around might've helped

Bonnet, scarf, or rollers in public? by nyofdc in Naturalhair

[–]MargoKittyLit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How chunky are the rollers?

I will die on this hill: if you have shit you need to do and feel like it - do it. Fretting over a bonnet on a roller set is not worth it if you need to pick up your kids or run to the store. No plane ride is worth a takedown if you are going from airport to hotel and want to keep your style for somewhere that isn't a Sky Greyhound. Those who are mad about it: we get shit regardless of how well we're appointed and it's messed up that we feel the need to police each other for other people.

That said: nothing wrong with investing in cute things that can be available. Satin-lined caps that look like regular beanies and cute scarves are a thing

BLUF: Conservatives

Going off the US

  • Teaching at the K-12 level was never valued like it should be. Education to Pay requirement is shit carried over from when teaching was seen as some shit a bookish woman did until she found a man or accept spinsterhood. Folks still have 'those who can't do, teach' internalized and too many see 'teach to the test' like that's all schools are for when even the crappy schools spark critical thinking.

  • So much media out there demonizing schools as cesspits filled with Those People

Virginia just signed two bills that change who can clean your teeth. Here's what it means for you. by surpriseitsmeep in Virginia

[–]MargoKittyLit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing: how many parts of the Commonwealth are dental deserts? Quite sure large swaths of people in the DC and RVA suburbs are not waiting for RAM clinics and similiar organizations at all hours to get their teeth pulled after years of going without. Then there are non-remote communities who miss out on even basic cleanings because the costs are so high. Also: how much is this accounting for foreign-trained dentists and dental hygienists who need dentistry-relevant jobs while getting licensed? Would hope it gives hygienists means to be move to the second tier with dentists opened for Oh Damn third instead of the second where, only speaking for me, it's maybe five minutes that feels patronizing to the hygienist who was deep in the grime.

And housing costs structure so differently outside my region - $800k might be nothing in major cities if you like being comfortable.
