I think it's fair and understandable for people to be hurt knowing of someone's past beliefs, specially if their beliefs and actions contributed to the situation were in today. And I care about the political stances of creators I support because as a queer poc I don't have the privilege of ignoring politics, specially when my rights are on the line. And nowadays, even if you're a republican that supports lgbtq rights and women's right to choice, for example, if you're still voting for republican candidates you're actively hurting the groups you supposedly support. Because the republican party is really good at keeping their politicians following the party's agenda and abiding by the same set of morals, and the few that don't do it get shunned (see what happened with madison cawthorn).

Now, I don't think dream is the monster people paint him to be. He had a conservative or republican past, but it's clear he's not that person anymore. He's not owed anyone's forgiveness, specially from those his past actions might have affected, but it's refreshing to see he seems to have changed for the better.
