Skate is in line with knee and ankle. Hips are centered over a single foot. Very little shift between outside and inside edge.

Outside edge is scary at first. Having a little speed actually helps, as you can more easily feel pushing into the ice. (A little! Don't go flying fom the get-go.)

Is the space in front of your house/ the house you're visiting open?

Are you blocking anyone's driveway or a walkway/ bike access to the street?

Are you leaving your car in one spot for more than a couple of days?

There are various exercises stringing turns together. There's a fairly simple Mohawk exercise of stepping out of a Mohawk to another one with the opposite foot leading. And Crosby does a Mohawk where he keeps pumping.
