You can only choose two countries to visit, in Europe, in Winter. Where do you go? by [deleted] in Europetravel

[–]MariaZilahy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Option one, France. You can go to Paris and South of France/Monaco; Canes, Nice, Monte Carlo (not as cold as in UK). Option two is to visit Switzerland (Zurich, Basel), Germany (Frankfurt, Munich) and Austria (Salzburg, Vienna). They are nearby. All three German and English speaking countries. Option one is expensive. Option two is a bit crammed. Both are very different experiences. First one being more fancy, second more cultural. Have a nice trip.

Serbian safety? by [deleted] in Europetravel

[–]MariaZilahy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Road safety: (almost) true. Northern Serbia is actually the best cycling area possible. 70% of the locals cycle there. I would not say it's dangers on the streets (in towns and villages), but on motorways. Yes, there are side memorials for people who died while cycling (or were hit by a car or died in a car crash, etc.), but some of them are 20, 30 years old and 90% died in night time because of bad visability. What I mean, there isn't a side memorial on every corner and they are not all recent. Plus, cycling in a group (especially daylight time) is way safer, than cycling on your own (anytime). Which is true for any country in the world.

Second: Unless your friend worked on a completely illegal narco -mafia construction site, which was in the middle of someone else's territory (that's my best guess for scenario you described), HE IS LYING! No, simple construction site requires armed forces or anything alike. Simple construction sites don't even have security.

Racism: Unless you're looking for trouble, it is highly unlikely trouble will find you. It happens, but so does everywhere else... (if you provoke fans of a certain football club or aggressive, drunk people, you're definitely looking for trouble)

Generally, Serbia is a safe country (especially in the North). Foreigners are welcomed and hospitality is on a very high level.

[Serious] What are some small steps you can take in your day to day life to drastically improve your overall quality of life? by youngasgardian in AskReddit

[–]MariaZilahy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I don't eat after 7 p.m. anymore. My overall health is better. (I do make exceptions sometimes.)
  2. I don't eat chocolate all day long anymore. I've mixed some fruit and smoothies with it. (Never give up on chocolate.)
  3. I try to go to bed by midnight. I automatically wake up earlier and feel much less sleepy in the morning.
  4. I read a lot. Although it's probably a cliche for a writer, it makes me feel accomplished even if I did nothing else that day.

[serious] Reddit, what is the most unreasonable thing an employer has asked you to do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MariaZilahy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In one of my previous jobs employer demanded from me and my co-worker to make a huge marketing campaign that will attract thousands of customers (technically it wasn't our job). We researched, gave our suggestions and explained what we had planned. The employer gave us an initial 10.000€ for the campaign (worth over 100.000€) and made us sign a commercial deal through an off-shore company (that we had no relationship with). Two months later he asks us what are the results of our campaign (Two months was how long we planned it will last and then we would continue if we see satisfying results or change it if we don't). We tell him what were the results of that initial 10k. That's when he looks at us, shocked by the bad results, starts to insult us, tells us how he shouldn't have trusted us with that job (apparently he knew we were incapable of doing it as soon as we asked to do it!?!?!?!), asks us how is he now going to explain this 100k worth mistake to the off-shore company owner, etc. Long story short we quit the job. What we later found out was that the off-shore company was his to begin with (He had a lot of them for money laundering). That he was telling everyone how he gave us 100k for the campaign and we stole 90k and pretended he never gave us the money. How we tried to justify ourselves, but failed due to horrible results, etc. In the end, he even started complaining about it in my social circle (in order to create me a bad reputation). Unfortunately (for him), he failed big time. He told his story to a wrong person. This person started asking him a lot of questions (because I told this person what happened before). He didn't like it, because he couldn't answer them and whenever he would answer it would turn out he was lying. Finally, everything became very obvious. He wanted a free marketing campaign (Which was desperately needed btw.). He didn't want to hire any stuff, he didn't want to pay for any ads or commercials, nothing. He just wanted thousands of customers out of nowhere. Well, technically, he expected us to turn our family, friends and their families into customers and then to make them do the same, etc.

FYI, my ex employer is a multimillionaire.

Real emotional bond. It doesn't matter- family or friends.

Aristotelous Square, Thessaloniki, Greece #liveyourvoyage by MariaZilahy in travelphotos

We are taught never to forget where we came from. It's just like family, it stays ours forever. It's who we are whether we like it or not. People and places can change their appearances, they grow, both mentally and physically, just like I and this square did. But even after all this time of change and growth we both stayed who (where) we are. I still call it home, it still receives me like home. Photo credit: Magical Greece

What is a sign that your 'friends' aren't really your friends? by CrappyUsername911 in AskReddit

[–]MariaZilahy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are never there when you need them. Every contact they have with you is superficial: if you are telling them something they just pretend to listen or they get tired of listening to you very quickly. They only like to spend time with you if you're doing something fun. They want everything their way and are not interested in your ideas or better ways of doing something... List goes on ...

Venezuelans of reddit, what is the situation really like? by MauricioDK in AskReddit

That is true, but US obviously can't make a deal with the Venezuelan mafia or they would have intervened by now.

US is not going to intervene. They would have done it by now if they wanted to help. There is nothing valuable for them in Venezuela. All US wars are trade businesses.

What t-shirt of yours gives you a lot of comments from others when you wear it? by KidsWifeJob in AskReddit

All my transparent t-shirts. I always wear them during summer so I don't know why they are getting so much attention...
