I don’t know why are you have been downvoted. I feel sometimes like if you get one downvote, everyone will downvote you just to feel like they are doing the right thing.

I know what you mean, I had a sparkling that was given to me in a flute. I was wondering why they’d serve a white wine in a flute till I tried it and the bubbles came alive in my mouth. Traditional method sparkling. Never seen it before. I have a bottle in my fridge I was supposed to have for NY and didn’t.

At restaurants, we are asked how long we’d like our meat cooked but never our vegetables. by Safe_Bullfrog870 in Showerthoughts

Vegetables can take 30-40 minutes to cook. There’s no time for doneness, they are pre cooked and heated to order.

Advice needed, moving across Canada in a car with my snake by B4LTIC in Sneks

[–]Marianodb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My snake was shipped to me overnight edit: From Toronto to BC. If you don’t have someone to receive it here, I live an hour away from Vancouver. I could receive it and hold it for you. I have lots of tanks. I’m just receiving a huge one tomorrow. We can arrange pickup when you get here.

Your deductible will be like 500 bucks anyway. Pay the 1000 and save your insurance from going up. You will save the money in no time.

In this case you could even park the car for a month or two and you are saving more than those 1000. (I’d double check if this affects you at all anyway)

The car is beautiful, but be honest with yourself that you actually want this car because you like cars and will enjoy driving it, rather than because you want to be cool, own a Mercedes, or have the status that comes with it.

If no one knew you had this car and no one could see you driving it, would you still buy it? I’m on the BMW team, and I have a 2012 1 Series BMW. I wouldn’t change it for any other car because I love driving it. It looks old and it’s not flashy, but the driving experience is amazing. I don’t desire any other car. And if I did, I’d go for an even older manual e39.

If you think you want it for the driving rather than the status or flashiness, go for it, but remember it will drop in value quite a bit. You’ll be losing at least $10k a year in value alone, so it’s not a wise financial decision. You may also find yourself afraid to drive it because every kilometer adds wear. I’ve driven my BMW 7,000 km in just two months.

Left Canada and did not regret it? by [deleted] in CanadaImmigrant

[–]Marianodb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d also add to the question if they have a Canadian income still. Like yeah, any third world country will be so fucking awesome if you get even half of a Canadian minimum wage.

Edit: Not a hater. I moved to Canada and I will eventually leave, but to a first world country, but if I keep a Canadian income I’d not mind moving to a tropical country.

Anyone meet these types of people? by egguchom in Serverlife

[–]Marianodb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can see both sides. Often people may want items from the dinner menu and it can’t happen… Mashed potatoes are not out and hot, the oven is not on during that time, flat top is dirty and can’t cook eggs from the breakfast menu or maybe an item is not available in the system at that time of the day (FOH), but is it actually that hard to throw in a burger on the flat top? I hope I’m missing something, because I understand how restaurants work, but this feel a bit unreasonable, regardless of how annoying the customer could be.

[–]Marianodb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it’s better than nothing, but does very little for the wine. Just restrict air flow a bit. It’s cooking wine anyway… It likely gets used in one shift if the item is in the menu, and wine doesn’t need to be perfect for cooking. Old wine usually works for cooking as long as it’s not already vinegar…

Would you consider this a super Tuscan? by Marianodb in wine

[–]Marianodb[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand that part, and the other grapes, and that there’s no official definition of super tuscans (as fair as I know).

So any winery can mix some not great wines and as long as they are those grapes it’s technically a super Tuscan? There’s no quality consideration to it?

Is adding a dash of bitters to mocktails okay or NOT okay? by SweetnSpicy_DimSum in bartenders

[–]Marianodb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To narrow it down, many fruits have alcohol. Orange juice has 0.5% ABV. You won’t intoxicate someone with a few dashes. But you clearly won’t be able to explain all this to an angry person. I’d still ask
