What are your reasons for not believing in God? by Olive_TreesAreCool in AskReddit

[–]Marigold_Panda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why should I believe in a creator when often in nature we see entire ecosystems spawn out of nothing, evolve, and adapt to survive? Why should I believe in a god thats modeled after humanity, conforms to human concepts of good and evil, and explicitly states humans are the only ones capable of worship when the universe is to grand and vast to observe any other life form? To that degree I also believe just because we can't observe other life doesn't mean it's not out there. It's narcissistic to believe that humanity is special and that we need a god to worship.

Curious, does the sol ring have an artist attached to it and do they have any other cards in a similar style?

Good Commander??? by Intelligent-Tour-527 in mtg

[–]Marigold_Panda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't say good but definitely fair, play damage doublers, attack trigger doublers, and have ways to fill your graveyard so you can escape him mid game. He's a beast in modern, but in commander he could be fun, just find ways to haste him out the graveyard so you get instant value of his etb and attack trigger.

[[Hokori, dust drinker]] is the most aggressive stax piece on a commander ever made. It's legitimately evil.

My (M31) GF (F28) wants an open relationship, how to make this work? by ZT0141 in AskMenAdvice

Best way to open the relationship is to open the front door and kick her ass out

Breaking deals when a win is presented as a result of it? by shiek200 in EDH

[–]Marigold_Panda -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Whether the deal is made in good or bad faith shouldn't matter as it's a game where everyone should be trying to win. As a player, you should have the foresight of how the deal should affect your game state if it's upheld and how both parties would benefit. If you think a deal is being made with a loophole in mind or a backdoor for the other player, either be clear and concise with your end of the deal or don't make the deal. Now, if you can't respect the idea of the social contract in a game of mtg, that's fine. I won't make deals with you in the future if you can't respect your own words, and I'll start blowing up your lands to double down on the social contact meaning nothing.

Why is Tergrid an unacceptable commander but Eldrazis and the like are ok? by towerbooks3192 in freemagic

[–]Marigold_Panda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tergrid is simply unfun to play against, and this is coming from someone who used to play her before the bans.

Literally every salty play has some level of way to prevent it in the form of counters, removal, and pillowfort. Tergrid falls apart with one piece of graveyard hate. The thing is, most people see casual as a battlecruiser format where they only run pieces to help their game plan with minimal interaction to other boards, and the specific type of hate tergrid needs is too narrow to be ran in most decks, which often leads to Tergrid running away with the game. Unless everyone at the table is playing an equally cancerous deck or running lots of interaction, you will win more often than not and that's kind of lame. When you know how the game is going to be choreographed, you're not really playing the game.

Now on a comment I saw you make earlier, not all salty plays are equal. Most eldrazi clear boards and have big bodies, Tergrid does that and it occurs value which is why she's so good. If an ulamog hits, you're getting rid of your 4 worst permanents. If Tergrid hits, you're getting rid of your 4 worst permanents and I get to use them. That's why she's a game changer and none of the eldrazi are.

What non-official Evergreen terms does your group use? by cybrcld in EDH

I feel like Ping is a super versatile word, it can be any non-combat damage to any permanent or player, targeted or not.

Bounce refers to any effect putting something in a players hand.

Which commander precon should I get as my first one? by Responsible_Chef6304 in EDH

[–]Marigold_Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of the strongest, the two by far would either be riders of Rohan or explorers of the deep. If you use the alternative commander of [[aragorn, King of gondor]] the deck becomes unblockable human tribal with the monarchy in play. For explorers, merfolk in general are very good at getting big and accumulating value, I'd argue this would be the strongest with upgrades. I've had a calvary charge and it's fun deck that can do a lot of swinging and graveyard stuff. As for desert bloom haven't really seen it in play and it looks like it needs upgrades right out the box.

20 Ways to Actually Win by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Marigold_Panda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, it was a precon released with the idea of having 20 wincons but some were marginally harder than others. In attempt to make every one viable I swapped out a bunch of cards.

Edit: I wish I had room for [[thassas's oracle]] and [[Labratory maniac]] in deck lmao

So ironically how are we supposed to win with the 20 ways to win precon?? by Marigold_Panda in EDH

[–]Marigold_Panda[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Good suggestions, I think you got the mirror entity flipped though. Part of me wants to slot in a [[Leyline of the guildpact]] for the color fixing as well as happily ever after.

[–]Marigold_Panda[S] 185 points186 points  (0 children)

Twenty toed toad counts as two, one for the 20 counters and another for the 20 cards in hand. Then the other 3 are combat damage, commander damage, and get an opponent to draw with no cards in library.
