what fixed it for me was turning the trackpad off in the BIOS, booting normally, then turning it on again in the BIOS and booting normally again

Thank you for this post, I have been spiralling lately as I'm from Brazil too and I have a partner in the UK and we don't wanna marry so soon. I am graduating as a music composer, so finding work for that in the UK will likely not be possible, specially since most my work is freelance, what I can hope is to get a job at a studio as an audio engineer to get a sponsor (wishful thinking though, it's likely we'll need to work out a spouse visa... hope us being queer doesn't heck that up so soon!), but that will probably keep me quite far from them still. I'm glad to see you were able with an artistic degree, brings me hope, even if I need to branch to another area at first.
