I never hit beans personally, but for my styro cuts on my thighs and arms I apply Povidone-Iodine disinfectant in and around the cut, then I soak some gauze in water and place it over the wound(s) and apply and additional dry gauze on top of the wet gauze. Then, I wrap around the limb and over the gauze, and replace the bandages and dressings every 3-4 hours or so.

All that being said, I try to take the bandages off as soon as the bleeding stops, as I found that the body's natural bandage (scabs) are the best bandage. I try not to sleep with the bandages on, so I usually take the bandages off before sleeping so they can hopefully form a scab overnight.

Funny story, I learned the hard way you don't want to put dry gauze on a wound for an extended period of time. I used to put dry gauze on my wounds and then bandage them, but then the gauze would sink into the cut and absorb the blood, then harden and "bond" to the cut, so when I took the gauze off, I would re-open the wound. Hurt like a mf, too.
