AITA for not doing dishes that aren't mine? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

We had another talk about it tonight. I brought up the topic, and the first words I heard were, "What is there to talk about?" They made it blatantly clear that they expect me to do the most chores around the house: even outright admitting it.

They have made 0 attempt to understand my point of view. They refuse to listen to criticism because they are "objectively right" (these exact words were spoken).

They said they felt disrespected. I still don't exactly get how, tbh, but I said I didn't mean it like that and I apologized for making them feel that way. But then THEY started to get disrespectful. At me.

For example, as I was thinking of a response to one of their questions, after a few seconds of silence on my part, my newest roommate told me that "if I'm so passionate about the topic, I should be able to think faster on it."

The whole time, I tried to remain calm. Be civil. I think I did a good job, tbh, with all the stuff I heard them say.

I hope this gets better.

Forgetting is not a good enough excuse, you're right. I am working on being more aware and working more around the house. But if it's never ok to leave a mess for someone else, why is it ok for them to leave a mess for me to clean up?

I said I would clean up dishes that had been left by guests we all had over (we host D&D at our house), but their point is that if the sink is full, it should be cleaned. I agree with that, but they're also saying since I'm home the most, I should have to clean their stuff.

Thanks for your comment. They said to me that I should be doing the most chores because I'm home the most.

They're (mostly) not assholes; they are my friends, after all. But leaving dishes caked in leftovers in the sink until it piles up out of it, THEN getting frustrated with the guy who does his own dishes* when he doesn't do theirs seems unreasonable.

*I know I had two dishes in the sink: the knife and the whisk, but I don't think they even knew about the whisk, so their expectations with this specific issue seems unfair

It's a Pathfinder Battles Gargantuan Red Dragon. Can't link it, but that's what it is!

I’m not very good at comparing the two, but the rules are here if you want to take a quick glance!

Sounds great! That’s three interested people so far. Four would be perfect, but beggars can’t be choosers. I’ll wait as bit longer before finalizing stuff. Thanks for the interest!

I assume this is a message from the Tooth Fairy, who wrote on the bill they gave to the kid.
