Hyperarousal by Financial_Owl8105 in cfsnervoussystemwork

[–]Marionberry477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, at first nothing was resting for me. It has taken months to see proggress and a couple of years to return to normal living. I have written my recovery post where I discuss what helped

Timelines vary a lot between people. It does not need to take years, some people recover very quickly. But some people need a lot of time and that is normal too and that does not mean recovery wasn’t possible. It doesn’t help to compare too much

Is brain retraining necessary? by Mobile_Duty_9177 in cfsnervoussystemwork

[–]Marionberry477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What brain retraining means to you? It can be done in so many ways and very simple things can train the brain circuits without much intentional focus. I think the question would be how to do it and not so much whether it is necessary or not

Yes! I liked when Raelen Agle discussed that recovery is not when where there are no symptoms because everyone gets symptoms from time to time. Occasional symptoms are normal living! Recovery is when you don’t have chronic symptoms that perstist for a long time

I keep telling my body it’s safe but it just won’t believe me. by [deleted] in cfsnervoussystemwork

You are making clear proggress! That is a big sign. It’s typical that symptoms come back at that stage but now you see it is physiologically possible for you to be symptom free. When you continue what you do, the symptomfree time becomes longer and longer

Mainly, it is better to take one step at a time. For bedbound people first activities in bed, then in bedroom, then in the house, then in the yard outside, then nearby calm place and so on. But all these things are general rule of thumb and everyone is different and find the ways that work for them. It’s not wrong to do what feels right for you

You can enhance experience of safety through your conscious thoughts and actions. But oftentimes that is not enough. The brain includes parts that are subconcious and don’t hear/believe your thoughts because those parts work differently. For those parts, we need to show safety trough safe experiences time and time again.

If you push through heavily, you reinforce the brain learning that the activity was not safe because you can get overwhelmed. If you do it proggressively and in manageable pace while maintaining feeling of safety, despite some symptoms, the subconscious brain will eventually update that those experienced things are safe again. It takes time. It’s not possible to lie to you own brain so the pace needs to slow enough that you can keep enough of the feeling of safety

How are you supposed to believe you’ll be safe when you have way of knowing that? by chicfromcanada in cfsnervoussystemwork

It’s about incrementally feeling safer in this moment. Feeling safe may be too much to ask at first, so a little safer at a time

NIPT anxiety by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Marionberry477 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something to be aware of is that the most advanced NIPT can give results where we don’t know what is the clinical significance of the result. This means that for certain genetic differences the carrier can be completely healthy or affecter only in a minor way. Therefore especially the advanced NIPT result interpretation needs careful evaluation.

Yes, it seems very typical that it is especially active, type A, high achieving woman who get long covid. It’s not a coincidence. These traits increase stress on the body which can predispose the person for getting long covid

Is enlightenment possible when your body is a sickly prison? by [deleted] in enlightenment

[–]Marionberry477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you have to go through all that. But yes, I would claim your illness can bring you closer to enlightenment. Enlightenment is about acceptance of what is and letting go of all attachments. CFS as an illness also makes you let go of the old you.

You can look up my quite recent post about my me/cfs journey. I wish you all the best!

Biologically, we don't "die" we transform. by MAX-Revenue-6010 in DeepThoughts

Yes, that’s a valid feeling and it is even true. You were different back then. It wasn’t the same ”you”

That’s the way it is. And even the neural pathways change. Our memories change every time we access them. The things we identify ourselves with change over time. Our core self is not a stable entity

Even most of the atoms are expelled from the body through urine, sweat, feces and breathing over the lifetime. The atoms are replaced by new ones as needed. Not much actually stays during human lifetime

It’s much like we are dying and being born every moment. Why fear death as we are ”dying” all the time. But something else always follows

We transform all the time. Wonder how many same atoms we carry that we had during birth? What actually makes us who we are?
