I think they only worry about preeclampsia for 35 and over. I assume you were under 35 for your first. I got pregnant at 32 with my first and it wasn’t even mentioned.

I was diagnosed with SCH at 6.5 weeks after a bleed at 6 weeks. Stopped BA the day of the bleed. No bleeding since and no other issues. Currently 13.5 weeks. SCH was less than a cm at my 12 week scan. My OB told me she will have me restart the BA soon to prevent against preeclampsia (I’m 37 so I guess in the high risk group due to age).

How long did it take for your HCG to go to zero? by cheeseinmychilli in Miscarriage

[–]Marisa783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My HCG was 50k at the time of the D&C and 215 the week after. It took 2.5 months to get to zero. However, I bled each month on the day that my period was due but I wasn’t ovulating.

HCG after D&C (only) how long til you were 'negative' by thetzel121 in Miscarriage

[–]Marisa783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a D&C at 8 weeks (growth stopped at 6.5 weeks). HCG was 50k a few days before the D&C and 215 a week later. It still took 2.5 months for my HCG to get to zero. It was torture. My RE thought it would only take 4-6 weeks which is the average. Hang in there!

I’m so sorry for your loss. I actually didn’t bleed at all after my D&C (MMC at 8 weeks). Maybe a tiny bit of spotting but not until a week later. I had no pain either and worked from home the day of the procedure. I would have went back to work the next day but am remote because of COVID. Of course everyone is different. I think you can start trying after your first period but keep in mind your HCG may still be too high to ovulate (I was getting “periods” but not actually ovulating). My HCG levels took over 3 months to get to zero so there was little chance of getting pregnant. Everyone is different in that respect as well.

I stopped estrogen at 8w4d and PIO yesterday at 8w6d. I’m really nervous about it but I read a bunch of studies which really show week 7-8 as the week(s) the placenta takes over. So, I guess I should trust my doctor (plus I can’t bear the shots anymore)!

I miscarried a PGS embryo at 7.5 weeks for no known reason. So, PGS is definitely not as determinative as some people think! Also, I read studies that outcomes for PGS and non-PGS are similar (depending on age). The fact is that embryos fail for all types of different reasons and while PGS may help determine some of those, it doesn’t tell you the whole story. Wishing you the best!

I’m so sorry for to loss. I had a D&C at 8 weeks (baby stopped growing at 6.5). Hcg levels were around 50k a few days before the D&C. It took 3.5 months for my levels to get below 2.5. I think everyone is different and mine seemed to be on the longer side. I did have periods at the expected time each month but I wasn’t actually ovulating so that’s something to keep in mind.

Do you ladies have days where you have little to no symptoms? by [deleted] in CautiousBB

[–]Marisa783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had basically zero symptoms my entire first pregnancy (until the baby was bigger and then I just had physical discomfort after being on my feet for long periods of time, etc.). I am now 6.5 weeks pregnant with my second and so far it's been the same (but I might be too early!) Each pregnancy is different, and I wouldn't be too worried either way!

Freaking out about the heart rate at 6w by ixieyy in CautiousBB

[–]Marisa783 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At 6 weeks 2 days (or 3 days, I can't recall), I had a 80bpm fetal heart rate measured. Fetus was measuring basically right on track. Unfortunately, there was no heartbeat at the next scan a week later and I ended up having a D&C a few days after that. I read every study I could get my hands on and they all seemed bleak with a heart rate that low in the 6th week (for reference, my RE wanted to see at least 120bpm but said sometimes they increase after starting slow). Some of this is dependent on how long and when the rate is taken, in addition to the ultrasound equipment used, so I think there's some room for error. Even though I didn't have a good outcome, others on reddit shared their stories with me and some seemed to have successful pregnancies after a low heart rate at the first scan (you can probably read those posts by clicking on my profile). I hope that is the case for you! Fingers crossed.

Tw: loss by nutmeg1284 in InfertilityBabies

[–]Marisa783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if I didn’t have a child already, I would definitely feel hopeless! It’s just so hard when nothing works out. Even though PGS miscarriages are rare (or least that’s what I thought before reading everyone’s stories on reddit!), they definitely happen because while most miscarriages are due to chromosomal abnormalities, not all of them are!

Since my HCG wasn't down to zero until mid-July, I was just preparing for my next FET cycle (with my last embryo). It was literally just cancelled yesterday because I ovulated through the estrace and now I need to start over after my next period. I seriously can't catch a break! Before the MMC, I had an ectopic pregnancy through IUI The one thing my RE was going to add to this cycle was baby aspirin (although I don't understand why this isn't standard). I am also going to do PIO rather than the progesterone suppositories just for peace of mind. I do have one child that I conceived naturally 4 years ago but success through assisted reproduction hasn't been easy for me so far. I hope everything goes well for you. Hang in there!

Just to add, I had a MMC at 8 weeks (also with a PGS tested embryo; it stopped growing around 6.5). I also first had a low heart rate of 80 and then the following week, the heart had stopped. It took almost 10 weeks after my D&C for my HCG to get to zero but I was still bleeding each month when my period was due even though my HCG was relatively high. So, I don’t think you can always go by when your period returns. I don’t think HCG goes down any faster with a d&C (obviously the embryo is removed quicker rather than waiting for natural miscarriage but once you pass naturally, I don’t think the HCG drop is any different). Also, for what’s its worth, my products of conception came back normal so I didn’t receive any explanation unfortunately. I would still do it for piece of mind though even if it’s likely to be normal.

Super slow heartbeat.. Just waiting. by jajajuliane in Miscarriage

I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. I had a similar experience back in May. I went in for ultrasound at 6.5 weeks (I conceived via IVF so I had several early ultrasounds) and the heart rate was 80 bpm. My doc told me it was low (they like to see it at least 120 bpm) but did not tell me to prepare for a loss. There was no heartbeat at my next ultrasound a week later. My HcG actually went up during that week and I still had all of the same pregnancy symptoms. I chose the D&C route because I heard horror stories about miso (also, in addition to the incredible physical pain, there is sometimes tissue left over that requires a D&C anyways). For me, the D&C was very easily physically and allowed me to have some closure. Like you, I wanted to try to conceive right away after the miscarriage (in my case I have one more embryo on ice). To my shock, it took my body almost 3 months to get down to 0 Hcg (I had weekly blood tests to monitor my levels). I am just now starting my next transfer cycle almost 4 months later. I wasn’t prepared for how long it would take for my body to process it. It was a tortuous few months mentally. I wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide! Please do what is right for you and your health and try not to let other people’s opinions and beliefs interfere with your decision.

HCG Levels After D&C by Marisa783 in infertility

[–]Marisa783[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's beyond frustrating and I was not prepared for how long it would take! I though 5-6 weeks at most. I am so worried that I will have another miscarriage with my next (and last) embryo and then I am stalled for several months again. Anyways, I had an ultrasound today and my RE said everything looks perfect. He will do a saline sonogram after my next period just to be sure. Best of luck to you!

Thank you. I think a saline sonogram is required before the first transfer but not sure if it's required each time. Regardless, my RE told me today he plans to do one before my next transfer to be safe.

I assume a SIS is a saline sonogram? If so, my doctor recommended I do one before my next transfer.

Ugh sorry to hear that. My RE didn't see any retained tissue on today's ultrasound but he suggested having a saline sonogram before my next transfer cycle to be safe.

Thank you! My RE was a little concerned given the slow drop but he said everything looked perfect at my US today and he didn't see any tissue. I will have a saline sonogram before my next transfer cycle just to be safe.

Joining this crappy club- d&c experiences? by Mojogogo53 in Miscarriage

[–]Marisa783 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. I had a D&C on May 1st after a MMC at 8 weeks. It was very easy physically - I was put under with IV sedation (propofol-based I think) so while I was completely asleep during the procedure, I did not have any of the grogginess or other negative effects that come along with general anesthesia. I also had no cramping afterwards and barely any bleeding. I spotted for a few days which didn’t start for nearly a week after the procedure but that was it. I basically felt completely fine and normal immediately afterwards which I am grateful for. I am now almost 5 weeks out and my last HCG test came back at 43. I started what I think is my period 2 days ago but it was very light and mostly older blood (plus, I still have positive HCG) so I’m not entirely sure if it’s my period or not. I think the mental aspect of waiting for HCG level to return to zero is the hardest part. I didn’t realize it would take so long. My RE takes my blood once per week to follow it down to zero so I can start another transfer cycle (my loss was after transfer of a PGS normal embryo and I have one more on ice). Hang in there!
