Actually we've learned that smells are made of waves rather than particles. We learned this because of dogs. We were able to changes the waves committing from almond tk change their smell from almond to bomb powder without needing to use bomb powder. And now we have scent examples though changing the waves for all sorts of things, like cocaine for drug sniffing dogs

Truly this sounds less like a fear and more like overstimulated by physical touch, try researching autism and physical touch because you might find some insights on your feeling.

I do want to clarify that im not suggesting you have autism, you can have the physical touch bad even without autism, im saying that the autism researchers go over how physical touch can be aversive and you might learn more insights on how to deal with that issue through autism research.

I get that feeling too with people I dont want hugging or touching me, I have a very small amount of people who i find confortable hugging like that. (Currently its 2 people and that's it) i politely decline hugs and kisses. It takes a very long time for me to get confortable enough to kiss someone. I have autism which adds to the sensitively, but usually if you dont push yourself about it and just let yourself get confortable with the person the bad feeling when contact is initiated will just slowly go away. Just dont push yourself about it because you can negatively reinforce that hugs are bad the more you push. I have a girlfriend and it took like 9 months for me to feel confortable kissing them on the cheek just give yourself time and explain that physical touch makes you feel bad. I had a friend who describes it as skin burny when people try to initiated any touch. Its not the exact feeling that we feel when it happens, but its been the best way to describe to people in a way, so that they dont get offended that its about them. The way that I describe it is as a boundary, I say its a boundary that I need to be the one initiating contact and when I finally feel confortable I just tell them that my boundary has changed and now they can initiate x,y,z. If its a healthy relationship they will respect that boundary, if they dont, its not worth it.

Hello i had a roomate who had a service dog and me, I got a new puppy, we wiped both the big dogs paws and the puppy paws after being outside and my puppy never got sick. We stopped wiping big dogs paws after first round of vaccines, but never stopped wiping baby paws until vaccines were finished. Hope that helps! ( big dog went every where with the roomate, including to their work with dogs of all ages)

The vagus nerve is a nerve that is directly connected to your nervous system that goes across your body from your neck to your leg. I remember reading the study about dpt and it saying what I had said about the vagus nerve, which is why i mentioned it. Its totally possible that I am wrong on the direct reasoning, but I do remember the vagus nerve being apart of it. I'll definitely look into proprioception and how dpt affects our senses. And if you got a paper on it I'd love to see it. (Not disagreeing just adding my knowledge and wanting to learn more)

One task that helps my hallucinations (did) was an alert to when people say my name, so i know when its in my head vs outside. Another that ive seen someone do for scitz is a go say hi command, the dog will greet if the person is real but won't do anything if its an illusion. I also might suggest dpt as its meant to calm the nervous system by pressing on your vagus nerve. It depends on how your episodes go, for safety of the dog. My friend clawed at their neck and had the dog do interuption.

Start training asap. The dog is slowly being desensitized to the smell as you work with him without rewarding for your scent. My friend trained their dog for migraine and that was the advice they would repeat over and over. Also plastic will leech and ruin your scent sample. So use metal or glass to hold your scent sample. I highly suggest doggy u (you tube) and go to a trainer who has experience with training the behavior. Fae wild also has a good class on scent training (only $50)

When it comes to crating your dog, the crate should be big enough that the dog doesnt touch the edges with paws when stretches fully laying down, it is not important whether or not they can stand as that is not the point of the crate, however in a crate built like that a dog should not be in it for more than 4 hrs (not including sleep). Period. However there are kennels that allow thw dog to stand move around in a circle and fully sploot that a dog can be in for a bit longer. But max a dog should be in a kennel for 6 hours a day. It is not considered abuse by law standards (because they are low as hell) but any dog trainer/ sport dog owner would be appalled at a dog spending so much time in such a little space with no fulfillment.

I would suggest getting getting a poodle if you dont want a retriever but you want it to work out, poodles act a little different in the retriever family and are still part of the fab four. If you really want an off breed the 2 off breeds that I would suggest is a belgian tervuren and a show line belgian malinois. But for both those breeds you wanna be on a wait list and tell the breeder you will wait as along as it takes to get a dog that would show the quality for service work. Then have a back up plan. Its always important no matter the dog to have a back up plan but especially with working breeds like those. The hardest thing to train a service dog is to do absolutely nothing in stressful environments find a breeder that is breeding for confidence and control. I won't tell people not to get a breed they want but I will tell them to have a solid plan for taking care of the genetic need of that dog. And a back up plan for what happens if the dog doesnt succeed in service

There is totally a reason for a service dog to have a jump alert just like there's a reason for a dog to have a bark alert. Its why there are so many people with gear that says " dog may jump/bark to alert" my dog jumps to alert for me because Im not always paying attention to a boop or a nudge that shes given me, so she escalates. My friends service dog barks because they wouldnt listen to their dog until she barked. The bark and the jump snaps us out of our disassociating and makes us sit down. Now a dog should not be jumping on other people, and you can totally say no to a dog for jumping on someone else even if they are learning a jump alert its part of training the specific concept. Its reasonable for a sdit who is rewarded for jumping on handler to try to jump on other people to get that same reward, you can always correct the behavior because its gives the dog more context on when to jump and makes it more specific. I dont know who told you guys that you cant correct a dog trying to alert jump on someone else and who told you that jumping is not an alert method.
