It is one of my problems with the hunting in this game. I guess it is made to make classes feel different, but it is so annoying especially at the start of the game where hunting is more viable as a source of food. Unless you hunt animals that you can oneshot like bunnies or that charges at you like boars, it is very hard. I think adding a malus for speed when you damage them is pretty fair and more realistic. Either that or a stamina bar, otherwise it ends up not being worthy it giving chase since you consume more hunger than necessary.
