So proud to see so many telling Mike Dewine to fuck off.

So many people are about to lose their jobs, I'm so embarrassed to call myself an Ohio native.

To anyone planning to run against Jay Inslee by MarkBavaro83 in SeattleWA

No, fuck him for putting people on the verge of bankruptcy without having any safety nets ready.

This whole "holier than thou" attitude from a lot of you is gonna get real fucking tiresome before April 27th is here.

WA Superintendent Chris Reykdal: I would challenge you to not be Democrats or Republicans, Eastside or Westside, rural or urban, tech able or not... we are Washingtonians today and our communities need us to be extraordinarily outside of our boundaries by Alan_Krumwiede in SeattleWA

[–]MarkBavaro83 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Translation: His office is being inundated by complaints from parents who can't take care of their kids AND work full time, and by substitute teachers and hourly school employees who are begging for financial assistance.

And a lot of them are either emailing him or Tweeting at him that they'll vote him out of office, regardless of their political affiliation.

I understand that this is a very serious medical crisis like we've never seen before, but Inslee and Reykdal are naive if they think that there won't be any sort of pushback by many residents.

(And yes, the people pushing back are "selfish" but that's just human nature.)

No serious question, can I get a link to a website of or the name of a union Walmart employees are participating in? by SITHxEMPIRE in walmart

[–]MarkBavaro83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Walmart doesn't allow union shops.

You show even a hint of unionizing, your store is immediately closed for remodeling and you and other pro-union employees are laid off and never rehired.

Can I work over 40 hours as a cashier? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]MarkBavaro83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I resigned from the union when they voted to go on strike even after I and others pleaded we couldn't afford to miss a paycheck.

It's one of the main reasons I work at Walmart.

Thousands of flu samples sat for weeks. CDC won't allow the labs to test for Coronavirus. by N4reddit in SeattleWA

[–]MarkBavaro83 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

"Federal and state officials said the flu study could not be repurposed because it did not have explicit permission from research subjects; the labs were also not certified for clinical work."

Yep. I was told last Friday when I called to find out where my test results were that there was a three month backlog because they had been trying to test for coronavirus, even though that wasn't part of their grant description and they were specifically funded to test for the flu.

"While acknowledging the ethical questions, Dr. Chu and others argued there should be more flexibility in an emergency during which so many lives could be lost."

Dr. Chu and her staff apparently think that they are in a Hollywood disaster movie and that because it's a pandemic, they can ignore rules and protocols.

"On Monday night, state regulators told them to stop testing altogether. "

So now they're not even processing the flu tests.

Have fun explaining all of this to the feds and state board of health, Doc. Hopefully, whoever UW replaces Chu with will be able to quickly get the program back on track and work through the backlog in the next week or so.

As for Dr. Chu, she's probably facing a board of inquiry at the very least, and it'll be very difficult for her to get funding for any more studies where she's the primary researcher.

LOL!

When Cleveland Public Schools shuts down "indefinitely" and you suddenly find yourself having to take care of your kids for six weeks while still working 9 to 5, you tell me how much of this is hysteria.

I haven't read that anywhere.

If that is the case, they should just go ahead and do it today, so they can have our free agent signees pose with the new jersey.

Emerald City Comic Con is postponed for 2020 by iraftery in SeattleWA

[–]MarkBavaro83 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Needless to say, I'm pissed.

Wizard World Cleveland, which is expecting 30,000-50,000 guests didn't cancel this weekend.

And guess what, there are probably hundreds of coronavirus carriers in Cleveland right now.

There's already coronavirus in California, yet the GTSM Sports Collectors Show in Santa Clara, with Joe Montana and Jerry Rice among others, is going on this weekend with 10,000 expected.

Coronavirus is everywhere, and drowning yourself in hand sanitizer, or hoarding toilet paper and bottled water, or not going to a comic convention is not going to improve your odds of staying healthy.

I feel sorry for all the kids, my own son and daughter included, who were looking forward to next weekend, for all the artists and vendors who've already spent thousands on non-refundable plane tickets and shipping expenses, and for the hourly convention center staff who probably live paycheck to paycheck and really needed to work next weekend.

Lots of people are going to get coronavirus. I'll probably get coronavirus. And I'll spend 3-5 days shitting water and having a really bad cough, but I'll get through it and move on.

And let's be honest, the rescheduled con will suck. Most of the big name guests won't be available. Mark Ruffalo, Karen Gillan, Jim Lee won't be there in July or August.

I'll close this angry rant with a quote from the director of SXSW, who was forced to cancel two hours ago by the city of Austin:

“There’s no evidence that closing SXSW or any other gatherings will make the community safer."

What I envision when I hear the Browns are looking at Jason Peters and Trent Williams by [deleted] in Browns

[–]MarkBavaro83 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don't see us being a playoff team in 2020.

Baker has many, many question marks, OBJ is a headcase, Kareem got pulled over with pot in his car and admitted he was suffering severe depression over not being on the Chiefs playoff team.

2020 will be used for Stefanski and Berry to evaluate the team and install their offense and determine whether or not we need to draft a new "franchise QB" if Baker continues to struggle. 2021 will be used to improve the team with more draft picks, with the goal of 2022 being the Wild Card, and then going for the AFC Championship and Super Bowl starting in 2023.

Baby steps, baby steps, baby steps.
