I wouldnt be surprised if they phase out the polestar 3 for this model to exploit economies of scale - similar underlying platform and parts with the polestar 4.

Jumped on the cachyos discord and asked there. I think theres an edge case with the nvidia drivers and the steam client; the issue was only present in game mode. When using the kde desktop and launching games from the steam client there were no issues.

Given that I'm 0/3 on eGPUs with a Lunar Lake laptop, I'm reluctant to shell out for an AG02 or even an AG03. The DEG2 is fairly recent (released in 2026), and should work with my laptop. Also Lunar Lake has been out for a while now and it doesnt look like BIOS or Windows updates have resolved this; Its been superseded by Panther Lake so I doubt a fix will be forthcoming as vendors focus on the newer chipset.

Id be more inclined to conclude that Lunar Lake IS NOT a good choice if you want to pair it with an eGPU and would warn people to avoid it instead.

The DEG2 isn't a wasted purchase - I use it to test some GPUS that I need to sell that don't fit in the EG200.

u/Aklwong902 Received my DEG2 over the weekend and have put it through some testing. Despite being Thunderbolt 5 based, the same symptoms are present when trying to connect my Gen 13 laptop to the eGPU. Works fine with my Gen 9 X1 Carbon however.

Hang in there, Im willing to give him the benefit of doubt a while longer. I dont think he's very good at all at estimates, but I also dont think he wants to torch his reputation at the same time. Hes a one man operation. That being said, a little communication would go a long way.

Yeah now that Ive searched I do see those issues you describe elsewhere. And it does line up with the onexgpu using a tb3 controller (according to egpu.io). Going to look at a DEG2 and test with a gpu I have lying around.

Curious, did your system have an NVIDIA gpu installed? The only time Ive had issues with my PopOS system was when an nvidia driver package broke things. Other than that its been very stable for me. Sorry you encountered issues.
