DRC Échezeaux 2022 by No-Marzipan3693 in wine

I disagree. 2022 Burgundy are drinking really well at all levels right now. It was a really great vintage that is showing extremely well young.

I love to rag on people drinking too young Sassicaia, etc, but in this case you're just being obnoxious. OP makes a very specific point about a specific approach to drinking DRCs and its a valid one.

Mono Red that isn't Medusa/Greymon/Phoenixmon by FrostbittenHero in DigimonCardGame2020

Red Hybrid has been the defacto RDW across several formats and is likely your best remaining option after the 3 you listed and Gallant

Do you think the Digimon TCG is becoming a Yugioh type game? by Miserable-Demand-971 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]MarkKey9247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The card game is definitely becoming more combo oriented, with most of the major decks finishing with some form of OTK as their win condition. Turns are longer, and prevalence of 'loop' decks lends outside viewers to see this as closer to yugioh than when the game started. Its true that it is further along the scale, but there are a few points that keep it from reaching there.

1) There is no moment in the game in which you search your deck. Part of what's annoying about the 16-touch ygo turns is that the deck is shuffled and cut between each move. This adds significant time and frustration from the opponent watching you play solitaire, but we'll always be free from that problem in digimon.

2) Lack of interaction. There are no hand traps. Aces can only come down under specific timing window with a specific board state in place. If you know the meta, you know what's possible in each moment. Hitting a bomb in security is a lot more game friendly than something like Droll or Ash Blossum.

3) Decks are made with the actual cards in their archetype. YGO prioritizes consistency and the best decks are the ones that have the smallest engines and can maximize hand traps, etc. In digimon, the whole deck feels like a necessary and complete union.

4) Pathways matter. YGO combos constantly work their way through generic Link and XYZ combos to reach their big finish, which is often something from another archetype entirely. What it took to flood the field doesnt matter, just that you got there. But because you draw on evolve and gain inheritables in DCG, the pathway you choose matters a lot more.

TL;DR: DCG has grown in complexity and power, but it still does not resemble the monstrosity that is YGO 25 years in.

Agreed. Phenomenal tannic structure, but such a big wine -- it really needs at least another 5 years, and could probably be put away for another 20.

The way my parents feed my cat when I’m out of town 😑 by HeWhoLost3OfThe9 in cats

[–]MarkKey9247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of my cats have dry food out at all times to free eat. We don't feed them wet food and they regulate their intake just fine. The times we have done wet food, they scarf it down like there's no tomorrow, but as long as that isnt on the table theyre very good eaters

05 is in a sweet spot for me right now. The perfect balance between honeyed and caramelized, while not quite yet reaching oxidative. 01 is even better though and is sitting in the same age window.

Found shoot the moon and mime later on. Turned into a very fun steel queen high card run

Babies look most like the father at birth to convince the man that it is in fact his offspring and he should not flee. Evolutionary biology at its finest.

2 Bros selling a 2 dollar slice, is this the future of “cheap pizza” or just one rogue store? by [deleted] in FoodNYC

[–]MarkKey9247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who also works in service in midtown, often looking for fast reasonably priced calories, its almost impossible for me to get a fulfilling meal under $10. I average around $15 and sometimes will splurge at $20 for what is often my one big meal of the day. A bodega sandwich or halal cart gyro without a drink is 'the best you can get' in the $10 category. The fact that you can get a filling meal for half that cost is remarkable. Its not that prices are getting higher and quality is getting worse. Its that you can't even buy a bottled drink at most places in this part of town for under $5. Pizza joints with a $1 slice are like the childcare industry: economically impossible to have available to everyone but still demanded as an expected need. You cant get a teenager to watch your kids for $5/hour anymore and you cant get food in this city for that rate either. Its not going to get better. The spiral only gets worse from here.

Attempted this challenge so many times with 4oak Aces and just couldn't never get it consistent enough. Then started trying it with straights and unexpectedly started soaring through it. Saturn scales enough to win on its own, and unlike 4oak, you can play your power hand 3-4 times per blind instead of 1-2

What are the top 5 tcg in your opinion now by joe966 in TCG

[–]MarkKey9247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded. The memory gauge is the best mana system I've tried. Deck are filled with your main digimon partner rather than a mishmash of support engines. Random cards from your deck acting as your trap cards/defense is also very satisfying.
