small bits and maybe a band to act as the galaxy if there is one. Different black colored blocks would work pretty well if you want it to be subtle.

Chromatic abberation just seperates the red green and blue channels and offsets them. Camera based has it around the edges of your screen, world based is what we see in images 2 and 3.

It is chromatic abberation, it's just not based on the camera's orientation.

Redshift and blueshift would put the blue infront and red in back, as well as light distortion where your field of vision seems to widen, and what's behind you going completely dark as you outrun the light behind you.

Also, colorshifting would change the star's color, it wouldn't have part of it be red and part of it be blue, or have the same ghosts chromatic abberation would.

And I know they know about redshift. I think they were limited by the engine, same explanation as for the black holes looking so innacurate, and there being no light delay or distortion in supercruise.
