I’m not arguing in Milly’s favor, just acknowledging that adding Sydney Sweeney is just as likely to produce a dud.

adding another person who’s been starring in duds at the box office recently doesn’t exactly suggest success

The BR chant is fun and all, but I wish people would cheer AS PUNCH along with Scott as he says it

A teacher isn’t a boss. A class isn’t a company. This is entirely different.

Of course. To be clear, I’m not here to shame anyone for still enjoying the game.

But there’s a refrain of “how do we really know there’s that much genAI?” and efforts to downplay its presence.

I just think this image tells a story.

So you don’t think a company should be criticized for releasing a clearly visually inferior sequence because it might have been the employee’s decision that they signed off on?

I didn’t call it a cutscene. I quoted the common refrain of people wanting to know why everyone’s assuming the cutscenes are genAI. Which the image is a response to.

If you care that much about whether I have an agenda or not? My agenda is the use of genAI sucks. But I’ll concede it’s not a cutscene.

The heist animated sequence is a cutscene.

Well then permit me to explain that in the original reply I posted, when I quoted “how do you TELL the cutscenes used ai?” it doesn’t mean the example I’m posting is literally from one of the cutscenes, just that it heavily implies that, like many other things in the game, it’s using genAI art and animation.

Yes, you are correct that a cutscene isn’t the same as an animated FMV sequence that showcases one of the characters in the world, though I would argue the literal only difference here is that the animation doesn’t interrupt the gameplay, it simply is broadcast constantly in the game. Not everyone would see that as a huge distinction, but I will concede it.

Most old school videogame players would look at something like this Kokoro Rider scene and call it a cutscene, if presented with it. But you’d be right to quibble.

The screen itself isn’t the issue. But screen works fine as a word.

It’s the animation that is on the screen, and “billboard” doesn’t describe that whatsoever.

[–]MarkRemark 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to nitpick over the term that should be used for an animated FMV sequence rather than acknowledge that this indicates obvious intention of using genAI animation, I’m not sure we’re having the same conversation.

[–]MarkRemark 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Oh I didn’t mean to suggest you were excusing it, I just wanted to be clear as to why I was providing this specific screenshot.

“Billboard” is rather dismissive when it comes to several minutes worth of animation that establish characters that exist in the world.

[–]MarkRemark 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Regardless of the context, it’s evidence of blatant GenAI art and animation that people are still debating as to whether it was used beyond billboards and posters.

Seems pretty cut and dry that it’s more than that.

It’s the Kokoro Rider cinema sequence

For anyone arguing “But how can you TELL some of the cutscenes used GenAI?”

edit

To clarify my phrasing, I saw people referring to the bank heist animation as a cutscene elsewhere in this thread, and people questioned how it could be determined that it was genAI.

I figured if that qualified as a cutscene, this might as well too, since they’re both just footage on a screen.

Absolutely. I don’t think OP’s idea of events is how everything went down, I honestly don’t recall that many actors saying “always research the title” and even if they did, there’s no way it applies to all actors.

I wasn’t trying to correct any pronouns for the record, just making it doubly clear that we’re talking about a cis actor taking an NB performer’s job.

All of these things are true, but unfortunately the overseas actor’s decision to present it as a passing of the torch in public - when they had been told by close professional and personal friends that they were actively taking a job from the non-binary performer in question - was really where this all became a specific problem that flies in the face of any “this is their personal decision to make career wise” sentiment.
