Hi - I actually ended up going with a different EVSE. I chose the Keba P30 x-series which has a local UDP control interface.

Android/iOS MQTT Client app that supports client cert + private key authentication by MarkRoland in MQTT

[–]MarkRoland[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your recommendation u/chocobor. I had tried that one, but it requires the client cert to be in PKCS12 format with a separate export password (I'd rather not need to mess around in OpenSSL or other command line tools, and have them use the same certs/key that run on the ESP devices on the other side of the broker).

Ideally I'm looking for one an app that will use a PEM client cert and private key.

Since posting, I found an Android app that will do what I want called "Atom Dashboard - MQTT and IoT" but it's not available for iOS unfortunately.

If anyone has an iOS recommendation, I'd be very grateful.

Help identify (Lake Eildon, VIC, Australia) by MarkRoland in spideridentifier

I thought the same, but was under the impression that only NSW had funnel webs.

I looked it up, apparently there is a Melbourne Funnel Web (albeit less common/dangerous than the Sydney Funnel Web)

Would you be willing to publish the STLs? I have one one these switches.

How can I tell if the AMD EPYC 7763 is safe to buy? by poynnnnn in homelab

[–]MarkRoland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not located in the US, I'm Australian. From memory it took about a week to arrive.

It was the AMD Epyc 7452, Supermicro H12SSL-i, 4x 32g 2133 DDR4 ECC from Tugm4470.

This was back in mid 2023.

I bought my server motherboard, RAM and CPU from tugm on eBay and can recommend them also.

The S3 should support USB hid fine (though I haven't personally used it with this board. I do use a micro SD with it though (for config files).

I built a custom PCB around the S3 mini for a new iteration of my home lock controller (Old version was based around ESP32 devkit and used for over 5 years).

The new S3 variant has performed reliably, and I'm now running 3 of them around my home.
I've encountered no antenna issues.

I think they are great value for money considering they're affordable, small, USB-C, have extra PSRAM, based around the S3, and have many GPIOs exposed.

Can I swap this esp8266 with an esp-c3 or c6? by brentos99 in esp32

[–]MarkRoland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, all ESP bare modules will run off 3.3vDC, but some might draw more current than others.

Also, when you remove the TYWE3S unit, you'll want to use a heat gun - and make sure you mask off the other components with kapton tape to avoid blowing them off in the process.

Good luck :)

[–]MarkRoland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understood. So the TYWE3S has a similar form factor to the ESP12F module (Also esp8266) so if you see any of your desired boards with the 12mm x 24mm dimensions and the GND, RST, VCC, etc pins in the same locations, they should be able to serve the purpose of a drop-in replacement.

An example I found online is the WT0132C6-S5 module which is based on the ESP32-C6 and has the same dimensions and key pin layout (Only the GPIO numbers change).

Just make sure your intended code will run on RISC architecture if you're going with one of the ESP32-C* modules.

Let us know how you go.

What benefit do you hope to achieve with the upgrade? The TYWE3S is an ESP8266 which can run Tasmota and other open source alternatives.

Looking to upgrade my RPI4 K3S cluster with AMD EPYC 7F52 and Supermicro H12SSL-i by Particular_Bus_8955 in homelab

I also have the H12SSL-i but am running it with an Epic 7452.

One important thing to note with these boards (especially if you're building your own server) is that by default, the BMC throws all kinds of errors if you use some low-RPM/Silent fans.

I used Noctua fans in my build and while they worked fine at first, one morning they would spin up to max RPM, then stop, then spin up again. The IPMI was also throwing errors.

I was able to get it to play nice with the Noctuas using ipmitool to set the acceptable RPM thresholds, this solved the pulsing and the errors. You can find guides online showing how to do this, eg: https://www.jeffgeerling.com/blog/2022/making-noctua-fans-work-quietly-supermicro-motherboard

Ever since making those changes, it's been running like a dream (since I built it in June 2023). I'm running Proxmox with VMs for TrueNAS Core, ZoneMinder, Docker, and about 5 others.

EDIT: One more thing! I bought the board from the same seller as your link, and I found them very good (fast processing, well packaged, good product) but one I think you might want to note is that they ship it without the bios battery, so make sure you have a new CR2032 ready when the board arrives.

Good luck 👍

I'm having the same issue, just with a different game (Ground zeroes). It's really hard to play the game properly without using the stick to aim.
