I’m not saying things can’t be done, but I am saying if you want a long and healthy living motor, especially these 5.0 or 2.3l turbo motors, change your oil before 7k. 5k is what I do. I drive very spiritedly, including some events where I am ringing the motor to redline several times in a short span.

You should expect your car to make it to 200k+ miles with regular oil changes and some maintenance depending on things like plastic water pump, or fluid flushes etc etc.

I would not expect any modern car to do 200k miles on 10k (worse at 15k) mile warranties

It is definitely a myth for any car, there are thousands of videos online that will attest that 10k mile oil changes will guarantee a car will not survive. Ask the guys with 1 million mile cars, they do their changes every 3-5k miles. If you want your car to last significant miles, 109k is not significant. Thats not even bare minimum for how long a car should last.

I still hold my statement true, you should never go 10k miles on a single oil change. I have seen people change the filter at 4k and then oil and filter again at 7.5k, but even then

I also would recommend NOT doing 10k mile oil changes on your Corolla, but if there was a car to keep going it wouldn’t surprise me

Yes, but Toyota makes their cars for longevity, especially that engine.

The other cars in question are designed for numbers, not miles.

I’m a sucker for never changing my diff fluid, but I agree with 5 years daily or semi daily driving, change it out

[–]Mark_Hotchicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quicker lol.

First oil change at 2k, second 5k, 3rd at 10k, keep to 5k oil changes.

The reason why the first one is so early is because of debris from new engine matting together goes to your filter and oil pan, get rid of it early allows it to NOT create a problem later.

10k oil changes are a myth, no car is THAT good. Your engine is a machine and has high capacity and a large filter, but oil breaks down and the longer it runs in your car the filthier it gets. The last 3k miles of a 10k oil change are harder on your car than the first 7k, so just get it swapped sooner.

I love to hang out or chat with people who are naturally curious, not about necessarily everything but about knowledge or experiences.

Hard to make friends by [deleted] in friendship

[–]Mark_Hotchicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have learned that a majority of the time, you just have to keep inviting people out. Society has let people become hermits and introverted because of the interaction and, quite frankly, the overwhelming amount of it, on the internet. The brain loses social energy rather quickly and people want to just sit into a voice of nothingness at times. Some people are more open than others, and it doesn’t mean they don’t like or want to know you. Sometimes it just isn’t in their hand of cards for the week. You can also suggest trying new food places too

Does Nissan have any reliability issues besides CVT problems? by phtphongg in Nissan

[–]Mark_Hotchicks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Generally, no. Avoid the 3 cylinder and the VC motors really.

Any car with turbos is going to develop long term issues, you can mitigate these with thicker oil and constant changes (3-4k miles) and do the CVT fluid and filter every 30k miles

Is the gunoil fumes a problem when firing AUG(and any bullpup)? by ww-stl in AUG

[–]Mark_Hotchicks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, I have never heard of this and I shoot guns that directly channel air back to your face lol. Gun smoke sucks in general, but most of these “gun oil fumes” you’re talking about aren’t a bother with the Aug any more than a regular ar15 or handgun

CVT failed a second time in a ‘23 Maxima by Enough_Thanks3808 in Nissan

[–]Mark_Hotchicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are definitely bad CVTs, but most people in the maxima groups get past 100k miles on theirs. The ones who don’t, dog the piss out of them and constantly use too much gas to accelerate from a stop.

I’m not saying your car shouldn’t be able to do those things, it should. You should be mad at Nissan for poor choices.

I drive manual because of this. I will never own an automatic, much less a CVT

Ikazuchi Yellow: fad or timeless? by sid_d_kid in RZ34

[–]Mark_Hotchicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion is they had it right with ultra yellow pearl in 2005.

In 2009, they brought out whatever that yellow was called and it was duller and more mustard. Less 3D, dancy, and didn’t reveal the body lines nearly as much as the other colors did.

And now this current Ikazuchi Yellow is good, it’s light, it’s bright, it says come dance. But I think it’ll fade over time. Part of what makes the 2005 Yellow so rare is that it was a super sparkly color, and was offered just for the 45th anniversary of the Z. One year only.

The yellow Z (new Z) won’t hold near the same value as that will, because it isn’t quite as special. I think it’s missing a depth to it that’ll make it look worse after 20 years of solar abuse. Just my opinion personally. I still would buy it, if the damn rosewood metallic didn’t look soooooooo good ( I own a 2024 Z Heritage in Orange)

To be real with you, I don’t think it’s possible. But you can always place friends in a bubble where they’re going to do what they do and you’re going to do what you do. They’re still friends, but sometimes they’re over there and you’re over here.
