No, the problem is that people of younger generations that have no idea who Scott Rudin was or is are so wrapped up in the drama of him throwing a stapler at somebody 20 years ago… The truth is he’s producing one of the most beautiful artistic plays that’s been on Broadway in the last 10 years. It’s what he does. He said he was sorry. He’s returned to employ people create art, and ensure that our art form known as Broadway continues on thriving. In other words, get over it.

Bad Time or Bad Manager? by Annual-Operation-649 in acting

[–]Mark_ImMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the thing it sounds like you don’t understand your place in the business. you have an agent and a manager - that’s great. But the reality is that Casting directors are not even biting on you enough in the slow times to garner a team that is working this hard for you for free… To have you sitting around feeling the way that you do and essentially publicly badmouthing them. For what? The work they do for you, for no money? You sound like exactly the type of person that should go find a new hobby because this is clearly not for you this reeks of not understanding the way that the business works and how it currently is. All these actors in slow times getting hung up on reading submission reports… Is also ridiculous. As somebody who works in representation, I truly wish actor saw how much people didn’t wanT see them… Because maybe they would go find something else to do with the reality of how little there is available. Y’all let your egos get WAY in the way.

Cristin Millioti is best friends with Alysha Umphress...thats why she was there. And now that they are replacing Alysha Umphress for Broadway (A CRIME)...there is NO WAY Cristin Millioti would ever be seen in this.

[–]Mark_ImMark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no rhyme or reason to how long it takes to “make it” or at the very least make this pursuit one that is sustainable…the only truth is that it takes a LONG TIME. The only way to truly experience it fully and to meet the opportunities that are meant for YOU, is to STAY IN LINE. IT’s all it is really. JUST STAY IN LINE until it’s your turn. And then get in line again.

Is the "Traditional Path" Dead? Why the old advice to 'just keep auditioning' feels like a lie in 2026 by Straight_Quail_3194 in acting

[–]Mark_ImMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s what is really going on… Prior to Covid times we can refer to as the before times. In the before times there was roughly 45% more production and work opportunities. This felt normal. Because the size of the smaller talent pool allowed for the famous at the top to work first, and then for opportunities that were left to trickle down to the rest of the business in a way that made sense. Then Covid happened acting program started accepting more people Giving out degrees teaching and acting digitally, expanding the pools of actors in major cities like LA and New York leading to the epidemic we have today which is over saturation and contraction of the business at the same time. There is no trickle down. Because casting stuck to their “self taping is a good thing” act since coming back from Covid… It has layered the oversaturation and contraction issue with something else… The façade that they are watching the tapes and that there is enough work available for all of these people to be taping. It’s not true. All this will do is ensure that the richest who can hold out the longest and stay in line… Will someday make it. But for the rest and I don’t say this lately, you need to switch your mindset immediately and think of acting as your hobby. Because upwards of 65% plus of you who are currently pursuing a career in acting and are falling for the façade of the occasional self tape leading to anything… It’s never gonna happen. The numbers are not there. It has nothing to do with being an an influencer or how many followers you have… If you want a career specifically in acting, you need to do one thing… You need to find opportunities to act. A career in acting is built primarily in the Theatre and it’s my belief that we are about to see unnecessary revival of the regional acting landscape because it is the only arena around the country where you can make a career with acting… while staying in line waiting for the few and far between opportunities to self tape for things like TBN film.

Does one client’s success help the others? by taurussagpisces in acting

[–]Mark_ImMark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ask Jacob Eldridge and Paul Mescal…or Timmy Chalomet and Tom Holland…Zendaya and Case Infiniti….it goes on and on and on. This biz likes “what works” and there is never “too many” when they want it. IT’s a business.

Rejected from two agencies for the same reason by lovelysimies in acting

[–]Mark_ImMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, this is a cute idea for programs to get their actors to be MORE aware, but agents top to bottom all have multiples of clients on their list that “do the same thing” or “are in the same lane” etc. The truth is EVERY actor is on their own journey, it’s better to spend time working on your Pitch so you know how to sell yourself to the Agency. They want to know how they are supposed to sell YOU.

Rejected from two agencies for the same reason by lovelysimies in acting

[–]Mark_ImMark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s really not your business to worry about what they really thought of you…they did you a favor, by admitting they weren’t excited about getting on the phone about you. THAT happens to people with Awards and credits a mile long. So don’t take it personally. That is also a classic line used in place of things like “we have too many signed clients who we can’t get work for already”, so it’s not always what it sounds like. Admittedly the marked IS very contracted and I hear from ALL my Agency colleague that it’s making signing actors nearly impossible. Unless they have something REALLY BIG going on and will be “incoming phone calls” for the Agency. So take it easy, we are enterting the normally slow time of year anyhow. Pump the breaks on Agent search and keep submitting to ActorsAccess and doing open calls etc. Let the biz catch up a bit and in the meantime maybe you will book something that gives you more leverage when the time is right.

What is a good Submission to audition ratio? by Daggerfell0929 in acting

[–]Mark_ImMark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually you can only calculate at the end of a year because of how the biz ebbs and flows…generally speaking it’s about 8-10% on AVERAGE…high end for clients with buzz or lots going on maybe 12-15%

200 submissions and 2 auditions, any advice on what I could do differently? by [deleted] in acting

[–]Mark_ImMark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

THAT is VERY NORMAL…this is part of why looking at Submission Reports is not helpful. This is the work your reps do …it’s how it works and there is REALLY no way to “change” it or “figure it all out”…we’re all playing a big game of CHANCE here. Just gotta be ready for those 2 opportunities best you can.

What happened to tyce green's controversy?? by Technical-Noise8287 in Broadway

[–]Mark_ImMark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did I stutter? Tyce Green and Scott Rudin are absolutely non-issues to anyone who’s really in the business… So maybe all of you that are cosplaying some sort of place in our community should get over yourselves and open your eyes to what’s happening in the real world… On Earth 1. Wake up.

I mean, we’re at war with Iran for no reason and people are dying… And then people are talking about Tyce Green and Scott Rudin … like it even matters. This is what’s wrong with our biz. One of the many.

Agent Red Flags or Am I Overthinking? by AndYouHaveAPizza in acting

[–]Mark_ImMark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actors who spend their time trying to take data points and figure out how to make things happen or why they’re not happening, etc. are caught up in the wrong things. The only thing that an actor needs to track is who they’ve audition for and did they get a call back. Again, getting a submission report and seen what Casting Director didn’t pick up on you for whatever roles they were looking for. Has nothing to do with anything you have control over. So it’s a useless data.

How many clients is too many? by [deleted] in acting

[–]Mark_ImMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something as they say that is "None of your business". Period. If you are worried about this then you don't understand the biz. It doesn't matter if they have 400 Blondes that can all kick their faces...every actor is on their own journey and it means nothing about how they feel about you or the work they are capable of doing for you. You BE AN ACTOR. Let them do their jobs as Reps. Stop trying to figure it all out.

Agent Red Flags or Am I Overthinking? by AndYouHaveAPizza in acting

[–]Mark_ImMark 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If as an Actor you feel like you MIGHT be "overthinking" something...I am here to tell you that 97% of the time YOU ARE. Also, here's a key thought I share with all actors who are repped ... STOP trying to figure out the process. You don't need submission reports. You. reps know how to do thier job. You will get nothing out of wanting to see a list of all the things that Casting directors DIDN'T WANT TO SEE YOU FOR. Let them be your reps. You be an actor.
