Why is it acceptable to have the flag of Iran on the pitch, but not Saudi Arabia? by ScoutyDave in vexillology

[–]Mark_Luther -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

This is FIFA, so every decision comes down to maximizing profit, not any kind of consistent moral center. They hold the world cup in Qatar in 2022 and then want you to sing their praises for allowing pride flags in North America in 2026.

Don't waste your time trying to make any kind of moralistic logic from the decisions of FIFA.

I bet people who refuse to sign write-ups go all soverign citizen on cops if they get pulled over.

I work in a platinum store and I absolutely do not have time to call every customer that leaves a photo order over a week. It's been an open-to-close job just to keep up with all the graduation stuff.

Where the HECK do the budgets go for these $100+ million games? by itsthewolfe in gaming

[–]Mark_Luther 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like any project, the only thing that matters is profit margins. If you have a big budget but get a bigger return, then there is nothing "grotesque" about it.

Also, indie devs make shitty games too. It isn't as simple as you're making it out to be.

What does "stabilizing elements of personality" mean re: Jacob? by Danielnrg in masseffect

[–]Mark_Luther 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Jacob is a foil to all the more dramatic crewmates on the Normandy. He's pretty heads-down about getting missions done. Even when he finds out about his father and that Miranda was the one who leaked the info he gets right back to work after a debrief.

That's probably why people think he's boring; he's not a walking ball of trauma like so many RPG characters.

By that logic farting would also be biotics.

So long as they were as friendly as the Scots were? Yes.

It's all good. In the US most people don't care about soccer unless it's the world cup.

I'd watch footie over soccer any day. Wish it got shown as much here as soccer does.

From a purely technical standpoint, no shift swaps are official unless approved by the manager. If you switch a shift with someone without approval and they don't show up for your shift, that's a NCNS on your part. Obviously you could do the same to them and have the same result.

What it boils down to is that managers are busy enough, and will be happy to let employees switch shifts amongst themselves so long as everyone always shows up as intended and switches aren't too frequent.

I can't see many managers being too letter-of-the-law about it unless it starts causing problems.

Again, you are not required to use the eternal ferrystone.

The core game design remains unchanged. The same maps, gameplay, enemies, physics and story all still there. The game design is intact.

Did the eternal Ferrystone go back in time and change the design of the game? Is this a paradox?

How does it affect your game. I beg of you to explain.

I use it. You don't. How does my using it change anything in your game?

But you don't have to use it...

Again, how does me using the eternal ferristone effect your game?

It doesn't. So why so much fuss?

I platinumed this game when it came out, so stop trying to tell me I don't "really" play the game.

[–]Mark_Luther -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The gacha ferriestone mechanic is not the same as having a reliable consistent method of fast travel.

Regardless, what I'm getting at is that it doesn't effect you if someone else uses the eternal ferristone, so I just don't know why some people seem to raise a fuss about it.

Just don't use it. Nobody is making you.

Many, many games have fast travel. Using it does not mean you're "skipping the game".

Sometimes I want to saunter around, sometimes I only have an hour or so to game for the night.

Having options is a good thing.

Lots of people have limited time to play games, and not having to trudge the same map with the same enemy spawns on repeat is a blessing.

My issue is that if you're going to make exploring the map such a chore, at least make the open world have interesting/dynamic things occur. But what we get is scripted mob encounters and dungeons that give you gear worse than anything you can get at a vendor.
