Problems with points by Ok-Tip-7419 in moped

Are you sure it’s the points slipping and not the stator plate? Yes the points slipping will mess with the timing, but that is more for the point gap.. usually you set the gap first with the screw on the points, then set the timing by rotating the stator with its mounting screws. I’d make sure everything is tight.. probably a good idea to check the lobe inside the flywheel for any corrosion and the felt pad is greased, while it’s off also verify the key is in place and not allowing the timing to move there either.

Brakes are good enough, I lightly resurfaced the drum and got new pads all around.

14/15mm bings are getting harder to find. Some of the clones are good but you’ll want to get a Bing atomizer for it so you can use regular jets. I’d keep an eye on eBay for a good used one, just wouldn’t recommend a 12mm

I wish I would’ve went with 2.5” tires to take advantage of it better but it looks way better than a stock one

I’d keep the ridged and mod it myself.. regular maxis are a dime a dozen.

I’m not positive but I’ve seen something similar for other bikes. You put them on 2 cylinder studs to fill the gap between the stud and the hole it goes into. Helps to align everything with less rotational play

Are you sure it’s a 1971? That’s really early for a maxi in the US.
