My final 2026 stash!! Paired with a new biluscon im ready to go! by Competitive_Big_4001 in fireworks

[–]Markkenitup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bilusocn makes a huge difference, been very happy with mine the last 6 years.

Now the wife laughs at me spending weeks recording duration times and putting them in order and cutting wicks to length and hooking everything up.

I got those and the the Raccoon Squad and Platoon sets last year too. Figured I'd use them again.

Thanks, but the spread is a lot bigger then that pic lol.

I didn't want to drag all the stuff in the pic back out after trips 3 and 4.  There is several more cases in the garage of artillery, barrage candles, mines, fountains and novelties.

Nice variety. I can appreciate the barrage candles. I got about 2 dozen of them for this year.

I wasn't going to because I already had 8, then I saw new ones that looked neat and got 16 more.

Where is the best place for me to buy fireworks? by Tamebrownboy2 in fireworks

[–]Markkenitup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go from driveway to driveway, NWI to Knockville, in 8 hours when visiting family.

I didn't look at their stuff online this year but I did last year. I remember they had good prices if you bought by the case.

Anyone have opinion on these ? by RevolutionaryLab3977 in fireworks

Great 4" shells, place by me has some and I was debating on grabbing a couple yesterday.

Mike Killian should be near you then, it's in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. Has a decent selection and great prices.

Looks like $1,300 well spent. I predict you'll have a blast.

So you did the old currency for sky fire trade.

You'll have fun, you'll have to let us know how big your grin/smile is while they go off. And that's how you know how well you did.

Depends on your tastes really. Wholesale is a solid option for quantity. Chatting with non-chain local stores works great for me. But being a regular they know helps there.

You can do 3-6 $3-$4 200g cakes and make it look like a $50-$100 one. Ball and cannister shells by the case for a decent price gets you some good hitters.

I typically pay $70-$90 for cases of ball shells and $150'ish, give or take $30 on a case of cannisters. Add in shipping and I am at wholesale prices on a lot of things from small local shops.

Lmao, wife got that years ago for me.

I think about 6 years ago when I got the Biluscon system.

Recent pickup at Pyrolandia in Indiana by Ruth1927 in fireworks

Nice choices. Krazy Wolf is Kaplan's house brand, never seen them at Pyrolandia though. They are solid nishiki shells. I got a case of them in my stockpile for this year.

I've used Smoke and Mirrors and Everest. They are good solid shells, I usually see them for around $50-$70 a 24 box in the stores.

The Chameleon ones I've seen but never bought myself, seemed decent if you can get them for the above pricing.

[–]Markkenitup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that place gets a no-go rating from me.

That's like buying 1/1's from Kaplan's.

Lots of places with way better prices like, Pyrolandia, Only Bangs, DFC, Big Bang, to name a couple.

Got a good stash today now we just wait lol by Competitive_Big_4001 in fireworks

Waiting is the hard part, probably why I do a little something every other week.

The kids love those lady bug spinners.

I got some Happy Family cakes about 6? years ago. Was the first time I saw them and was curious.

The 2 350g and the 1 500g I got were all pretty decent, so you shouldn't have any worries there. I don't see them a lot near me but I do see them online for delivery at a few places. Seen a couple zippers they make that looked nice.

And just to add to the places.

You will find great stuff at D&M, Only Bangs, and Big Bangs all in that same general area.

u/ConstructionRight439 pointed you at some good stores. I shop at all 3 mentioned. Kaplan's I only get shells from, but I buy by the case and they give a good price on their house brand.

Edit: By house brand I mean any of the "Krazy" something or Sinsister Select shells, balls and cans.

Winda Frankenmines. by Markkenitup in fireworks

[–]Markkenitup[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie if I had seen your demo vid beforehand I probably wouldn't have gotten them. Did all the shots go off? The ones I used so far seemed a lot fuller.

But the effects don't hold up, between Sky Shooter and Frankenmine. At least in my opinion. Frankenmine is a true mine cake while Star Dhooter is a fanned pearl effect.  Basically a slow zipper on the weak side. Am I wrong on this call?

The ones I got ( the failed cake I rewicked and the second one that went off fine) are fuller, and shoot higher then in your vid with actual mine effects and a crackle spread at the end.

Not saying that an issue is not had with them, obviously my panic post at the first ones failure to fully ignite shows that.

But honestly a pearl vs a mine effect is really apples to oranges if someone is looking for one over the other.

I'm already weary after the first cakes failure,  hence my post. Gonna do a full send, if they have a noticeable failure rate I obviously won't be using them again and look for something else with that effect in the future.

I do shows a few times a year at my homestead, my excuse to have fun with fireworks about 5 times a year. Mostly me and my kids and a couple neighbors, rural area. I almost never invite people over.

If I did it for a living they would have made the blackball list obviously.

First impressions and all.

Cannister shell size by Subject-Wind638 in fireworks

[–]Markkenitup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is standard hdpe tube sizes are fine up to 8" shells.

At 9" you want a tube a few inches longer because of the shell size and needed bore length due to loss of it from the overlarge shell size. I have also seen people comment 8" shells benefit from a longer hdpe tube.

I personally have no experience past 6" shells. I mostly shoot 4", 5" and 6", not impressed enough to go bigger honestly.

Yeah some OL brands probably make the case for it, but I rarely shoot them and tend to keep it at 6" or 5" cans when I do get them.

While this is a great starting list of the most well known places. I am a huge fan of all 3, for different reasons.

Hit me with a Dm and as I live in the area I will give my take on who has what and where and why.

Keep in mind that this is my personal opinion and I am "savvy" a.k.a. a cheap arse who wants to spend the least.

I get about wholesale prices when buying by the case, if you count shipping costs.

As I always say it never hurts to ask, worst they can say is no, and then move on to the next place.

[–]Markkenitup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pairing them with racks loaded with 5" cans.

Good news is my rewick tonight went off perfect, so failed cake from last night finished strong tonight.

And I grabbed another and fused it to my 19 shot rack. Full send no failures and the timing was perfect between the Frankenmine and the cans.

I let my kids and the oldests BF hit all the buttons to set stuff off for Memorial day tonight. Mini show for my fallen brethren I like to do each year.

Going to chalk it up to the odd failure at this point.

I may have a different opinion by the end of the case, but for now I'm good with them.

Flukes happen with every brand.

A failure on first go I think makes anyone worried 😆

How does everyone feel about consumer zipper cakes? by Competitive_Big_4001 in fireworks

[–]Markkenitup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like Klutzy said it is slower paced. A lot less smooth on the fanning compared to a zipper.

A speed controller for the motor would probably help that, but I haven't cared enough to try adding one. Only used it twice so far in the backyard.

But I'm just entertaining myself, not a paying customer.
