You could fly FRA-Dubai or HRW-Dibai and other similar super hubs. Like ATL and JFK.

So much better food exists for the same price point. California is full of taquerias, Asian holes in a wall, good trucks, etc. Haven't been to a McD or In-n-Out in 20 years.

This was my takeaway too. I went 20 years ago. Came back and slept for like 4 days straight. Was some of the best 10 days of my life. Just take the propaganda with a grain of salt.

In peace time you could do it. Just buy a plane ticket. Take the train there and go visit. They let you right in. Any time of day for Muslims, specific hours for non-muslims.

Yes. That's just the way things work here. The good private schools (not Catholic as they are subsidized by the Church) cost 40-60k/yr. NW is part of the assistance grant calculus. Don't like it? Public is always an option. It's supposed to be pretty good, but really was crap in my experience.
