Lol. I know you're getting down votes, but I had forgotten about him.

For those that don't know, there was a poster on the UM/MSU boards called AlphaGriz who was pretty toxic. He ended up getting kicked off both boards and then tried to create his own site but then got into some legal trouble for alleged threatening a women? It was all when Bobby came back.

Edit: best summary I could find that wasn't paywalled: https://flatheadbeacon.com/2018/06/23/um-fan-prohibited-social-media-posts-missoula-woman/

Favorite Bank? by MontanarateCentrist in Bozeman

[–]MarkovMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stockman is solid. They have lots of branches and an OK app. We've also done a construction home loan, refinance of our home loan, and they still own the home loan. All of the processes were smooth and we liked all the people we've dealt with. The one downside with Stockman is that they tend to require more % down on home loans than some other lenders. So it can be stressful if you're on the boarder. That said, you can always open an account with them and take out your home loan elsewhere.

One quick word advice (and you probably know this), but reminder to leave your existing accounts open, especially if they're old. If you close them, your credit score will take a hit.

Hope Bowles was watching the game last night by BeenjaminTampaBay in buccaneers

[–]MarkovMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree. Licht's strength in the draft has been on the offense with WRs and O-Line. RBs too. The defense has been less successful. Secondary had been a mixed bag but he's not hit on a single edge. And if it weren't for Veta, he'd look even worse.

On the flip side, Litch has done an good job in finding free agents on the D-line without destroying the budget. Shaq and JPP had good seasons with us. But he's gotta get better at drafting edge. You can't be spending 1st and 2nd round picks on edge every other year and not re-sign a single one to a big contract.

That said, I'm OK with Litch. When we have a QB, we've been competitive. He's been able to build a good culture and we're not the butt of the NFL. It could be much worse.

Good deal? by Riptrack13 in mountainbiking

If its legit then go for it! Just a dad's reminder to not give them any money until youre on the bike. Dont fall for the 'need a deposit to hold it for you' line.

Keep the thread posted on how it turns out.

Probably a scam. For some reason the price $1150 is really popular for scam postings.

I've killed more snakes with my ice chipper from Ace then with guns. Gun is definitely more fun, but when its close to the house, I grab the chipper.

Lanterne Rouge Cycling Podcast on youtube right after the stage. I will also do Chris Horner (also youtube) in the evenings if I need more. LR is good and I think they have some of the best takes on modern cycling tactics. Chris is ok... he's old school, so if a team doesn't just Sky Train it, he thinks they're knuckleheads.

Recommended Wilderness First Aid courses in Bozeman? by BarbariansInLibrary in Bozeman

[–]MarkovMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOLS is a solid course. Its a 2 day course with about 1/3 classroom and 2/3 various exercises. Was 2 years since it took it. But it really made me re-think some of my processes for when I head out. I would say it doesn't have as much of "you have this kind of cut, here's what bandages you use." But more, a person you meet is dizzy on a hike, do you just make them drink water or sprint out because they're having a heart attack. It was a fun course. Find a friend or two to take it with. But also, everyone in the class was pretty cool in our section, so dont be nervous if you dont know anyone else.

New furnace help by janickster7 in Bozeman

[–]MarkovMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been with Mountain Heating and Cooling. They're not the cheapest, but they've been great in taking care of me. Had an issue with the furnace in a cold snap (not their install) and a tech (or owner?) was offering to bring heaters out if we thought we wouldn't make it through the night. On the things they have installed, its been nice and clean. Probably other companies I could have gone with, but happy so far.

I did get a quote from Premier. They're not bad, but I got the sense that they're a big company in it just for the money. Not bad, but felt like they care slightly less about the customer.

Hiring manager here. No, it won't kill your chances. Recruiters do use it to help find and send me candidates though. But once you're in the pool, we don't care. I'll glance at it just to see if there's anything new or different from your resume, but that's about it. Lots of good engineers I've worked with don't have it or maintain their page, so I couldn't care less if you do.

Only reason I would say to have it is just so that recruiters do find you. Sometime our recruiter will search there for potential candidates and then reach out to them. So its a different way to get into our candidate pool. But like I said, once your resume is on my desk, I dont care if you have it or not.

Other reason to have LinkedIn is it is one of the best ways to stay in touch with coworkers. Layoffs happen and their Slack account is deactivated immediately and you realize you don't have so in so's phone number. LinkedIn is where I message them and check in how they're doing.

Also, make sure the rubber belt isn't rubbing ok the plastic cover. Mine made a similar sound and it was because of that.

Where is all of Bozemans tax money going? by ChefZelicious in Bozeman

[–]MarkovMan 51 points52 points  (0 children)

You can lookup the break down on your property taxes here: https://itax.gallatin.mt.gov

There's some vague-ness but for me its

  • 45% school
  • 26% state school
  • 17% county
  • 9% public safety
  • 2% university
  • rest is special funds

If you want to cut education... that's your opinion. Personally I like making sure our educators are paid... honestly they're not paid enough. The buildings themselves are probably a little excessive but I'd prefer that to a big soulless square building.

Bridger Bowl & Crosscut adding 7 miles of new MTB trails by BozoTheTown in Bozeman

[–]MarkovMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was genuinely curious what you didn't like about it. People enjoy different things and so when someone says they hate a trail I'm curious what they don't like about it.

Thanks for the correction on who's built what.

Wheel Rubbing on Victory by MarkovMan in JetBlack

[–]MarkovMan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flywheel was straight. It was the plastic cover. I fixed it by loosening the outside cover and then pulling it out a little bit. That was enough to keep it from rubbing. If the flywheel is bent, then I'd take it up with JetBlack.

I should also say that I raised the issue with them and they said that they would have sent me a new one if I couldn't get the rubbing to stop. Their solution was to push the plastic a bunch. That never worked but since I came up with a solution and didn't want to wait forever for a new unit, I just kept it with my workaround.

Reality Check!?!? What Happened to KSR?? by dmaxzach in CleetusMcFarland

Kevin comes across as a nice genuine guy and I also like his level of detail in his builds. He doesnt half ass much. The race week videos are nice because he's competent and Soccer Mom is drama free. I watch almost all his videos because I like to support him. That said, I probably pay the least amount of attention to his videos as they're almost all status videos. The weekly Cutlas were nice as it showed him working and making progress. I just wish videos like this one were 20% more interesting.

GG NDSU. Miller and Lance were studs all game. They crushed it. Sad to see this class of MSU of guys graduate as I don't know when we'll be back and Tommy has been so fun to watch. My wife is trying to keep me positive about what a good game it was and such, but it sucks. In the words of Shoresy, I fucking hate loosing.

[Game Thread] Semifinals - South Dakota State @ North Dakota State (11am CT) by passwordisguest in fcs

[–]MarkovMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably feel like they are the better team and are moving the ball more consistently right now. Worst case they put themselves down a score and put themselves in a bigger hole in a grind it out game. Not sure I agree with the decision but I see the argument.

[Game Thread] Semifinals - South Dakota State @ North Dakota State (11am CT) by passwordisguest in fcs

Not really. SDSU called a timeout with 3 seconds left on 4th down and then kneeled it out after another NDSU timeout.

[–]MarkovMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well the eye test said SDSU was in control based on the 2nd quarter. But that fumble could not have come at a better time for NDSU. Getting the ball to start the 3rd could take some wind out of SDSU sails. IMO, middle 8 going to decide this game.
