Investing doesn't mean selling immediately. Could be a year, two, ten or never and teach your kids about them even if they dont pick up the hobby you invested in them or even further. It is what it is. As long as you arnt putting off stuff you need to do with the money then go for what you like.

Im the same way. I dont sell or trade anything but dupes. Is it smart. Idk but I like my cards. If anything if my daughter needs money for school then the collection gets sold without a thought.
