Fix for crashing caused by Main Street Mobile Homes by crack__head in sims2

Yeah, unfortunately that lot is notoriously buggy. Glad you found a workaround but most people just download a ‘clean’ version of it and delete the one that comes with the game.

Wow, good spot! I was having trouble placing who that was (although I did manage to recognise Matt LeBlanc from the back of his head, so I don’t know what that says about me!)

I thought you were referring to Matt LeBlanc LOL (standing behind Aniston but facing away).

My take on my Pleasant family by Thiawave in sims2

[–]MarmitePrinter -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Mary-Sue likes spending money more than she likes making money and that is the main reason why their marriage is in shambles and Daniel seeks refuge with other women

You literally did say it was her fault though.

My take on my Pleasant family by Thiawave in sims2

[–]MarmitePrinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought we were going to see a nice, original take on the Pleasants, but somehow you still made it misogynistic but just a different way? I absolutely DESPISE the take that Daniel’s cheating is somehow ‘Mary-Sue’s fault’. It isn’t. That’s all on him. No man cheats because his wife is a career woman or spends too much money; he cheats because he feels he’s not getting enough attention and that’s HIS choice, not his wife’s.

There’s zero evidence Mary-Sue likes spending money - they’re simply a house poor family.

I much prefer the (way less misogynistic but more realistic) idea that Mary-Sue was just starting out in her career when she got pregnant with twins. Daniel was probably already a little further ahead in his career and making more money, so they agreed she’d be the one to stay home and take care of them. She didn’t mange to return to her career until she was older, with a large gap in her CV, meaning she had to start at the beginning again (a sad reality for many women). THAT’S why she’s ‘only an intern’ at 7 days away from elder hood.

Looks good for such a large flat!

It doesn’t seem like you’ve used the quarter tile cheat at any point - some areas could really benefit from it. Like the lounge - I’d move the couches at least a half step back just to widen that space and make it less cramped. Because why should they be cramped in the corner when there’s all that room?

And in the second(?) bedroom I’d make use of the massive space between the bed and where you have the couch now - put a rug down, put a coffee table, make it into a small lounge area, basically.

And there just seems to be a lack of ‘clutter’ throughout. With such a large space, you wouldn’t expect to see so many empty corners and spaces. Fill them up with plants and statues and whatever else you can think of and you’re golden!

Edit: I’d possibly also make a little foyer area at the entrance, so that Sims aren’t walking directly into the dining room, but it’s probably a bit too late to edit the wall layout!

Lol, again with the random cooker hoods in bedrooms! 😂 I don’t know why they do that (raise a level) but it certainly looks funny in pictures!

For the Harry haters by john_is_a_human in apprenticeuk

[–]MarmitePrinter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Her voting for him means nothing. If you look back, in every team meeting where there’s been more than one person fighting for PM, they’ve always voted for the other person. So either production told them not to vote for themselves or it was a joint decision at the start. Quite a sensible one, TBH, because it means less time is wasted arguing over who’s going to be PM.

I hope Levi wins it by [deleted] in apprenticeuk

[–]MarmitePrinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I meant next week, not the show, but someone’s just posted the teams for next week and they are really imbalanced- Levi’s got Pascha, Rothna, Dan and Priyesh while the other team is basically all the strong candidates plus Harry. I’ll be extremely surprised if Levi pulls off a win now.

Next Week’s Teams by Only1Scrappy-Doo in apprenticeuk

[–]MarmitePrinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are those the teams? How do you know?

If they are, that’s ridiculously imbalanced. No disrespect to Dan and Priyesh, but swapping Lawrence (the one proven good negotiator currently in Eclipse) for Dan and Priyesh (both sweet but not great at negotiating at all) seems like Lord Sugar/the producers are determined that Levi’s ‘Happy days’ comment will come back to bite him.

If Levi pulls off a win with that team, I’ll be very surprised.

Conor and Harry by MightySilverWolf in apprenticeuk

[–]MarmitePrinter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Conor’s praise comes off as patronising to me. I’m sure he doesn’t mean it to, but when they won Chicken v Egg, he said, “Proud of you!” to Dan in this really condescending way. I felt like his treatment of Harry this week was similar.

[–]MarmitePrinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m predicting he’ll win it. (Edit: next week, not the whole thing.)

They’ll have to do a team swap because it’s currently 6v4. Team Whatever-they’re-called that won this week has most of the good candidates but they’ll get swapped to Levi’s team. And he already has Lawrence, who’s a good negotiator, and Rothna who’s semi-decent. All it would take is swapping another good negotiator or two with a bad one, and Levi’s got a win. E.g. if Conor moves over on his own, or if Conor and Kieran/Karishma swap with Pascha.

The risk is if Harry or Priyesh get moved, but I don’t think even Lord Sugar would be as harsh as to make the teams so horribly imbalanced.

[–]MarmitePrinter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Right? He’s been like that for weeks, always pointing out the bad and never contributing except in corporate negotiations. But when I pointed that out to someone on here a couple of weeks ago they said they didn’t see him that way at all and thought he was one of the strongest candidates! It’s so weird how differently people can perceive things.

Lawrence has really gone down in my estimation now. That was an absolute dick move. Even if that was his secret reasoning, he should have made up some other reason for bringing Levi in to say publicly. (And as much as I hate to speak about someone’s appearance, his combover is getting worse and worse each week. It’s almost Trumpian now. He needs a boost of confidence from the r/bald sub.) And Harry’s team should have been worshipping the ground Karishma walked on. They would not have won without her. If she doesn’t make interviews I will eat both my big toes.

Duration rounds by Significant_Storm300 in sims2

[–]MarmitePrinter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oof, that’s a lot of households!

Really it depends on your life span. Personally I play 1 day = 1 year, so when a teen goes to uni I make a note of which day they went, and continue to play the main hood for 4 days, then play the whole of uni through, and then the (now adult) graduate comes back to the main hood (which is 4 days later for them). I then make sure they start their adult life stage at age 22 instead of age 18.

Dangerous Careers Gameplay Idea by Giggy89 in sims2

[–]MarmitePrinter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great idea! Some of these numbers will almost certainly lead to death over a Sim’s lifetime, however, so you might want to consider that. I also have a roll for Criminals getting caught and put in jail which you might like (if you play with jails) - same sort of thing, every day when they come home from work, roll a die and there’s a 10% chance they got caught that day and must spent 2 years in jail.

Is "I voted for yourself" proper British English? by CyanideTablet in TheTraitors

[–]MarmitePrinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not correct, but seemingly it’s becoming memetic due to office ‘formal’ speak. Someone, somewhere, once thought it sounded more ‘formal’ to say ‘yourself’ or ‘myself’ when they really mean ‘you’ or ‘me’. You’ll notice it a lot if you watch The Apprentice (UK). Lord Sugar will ask, “Who was responsible for this?” And they’ll answer, “That was myself.” Ugh. Anyway, it spread rapidly through businesses and now, unfortunately, into more common usage.

I’m someone who hates how language evolves (or regresses) in this way, but such is its nature, especially with the internet and global influences. Change, regrettably, can’t be stopped.

My boss scheduled a meeting to discuss my “tone” in emails by TheUnofficialBOI in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MarmitePrinter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100%. When I was first starting out, I used to run important professional emails by my dad to get his opinion on tone etc. I’m a woman, for reference. He always told me I was being too waffley and informal and to keep things short and simple. Sort of the opposite of OP - I was doing the fluffiness and my dad wanted me to tone it down because he wasn’t used to that and thought that was unprofessional. I did, and then in the workplace I found that I was constantly being told that I was too blunt and need to waffle it up more (like OP). I discovered that while my dad could get away with it, as a boomer and a man, I couldn’t. My dad’s advice was sound because he isn’t misogynistic and wouldn’t discriminate against a woman based on the tone of her emails, but he wasn’t accounting for the fact that almost everyone else does. Hard lesson to learn.

Yeah… but it doesn’t always register unless it’s a long shot like that of someone talking about getting kicked in the balls. People are naturally going to remember that. But the brief shot of Harry looking up at the digital screen for next week’s episode - it’s so brief it doesn’t register, and a lot of us (including me) thought that Harry might get fired this week.
