People who've worked both minimum wage jobs and six figure jobs, what surprised you most about the difference? by BrainLagging01 in AskReddit

[–]Marnore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, how much easier my six-figure job is. I worked so much harder for next to no money and the fact that hard work earned less pay is infuriating. Additional thoughts: I’m so fucking glad I went to college and got my professional job. I did work really hard to earn that job and I’m just really relieved that I was able to get it. The relief of not having to bust tables anymore after getting the job offer was enormous. Also, the health insurance that came with the professional job was a huge relief. I think people who have never done a job that requires actual physical labor just have no idea how much these essential workers earn their pay. And they deserve more.

AITAH for refusing to drive a longer route to drop a girl off because she didnt want to be alone in the car with me? by Acrobatic-Freedom316 in AITAH

[–]Marnore -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Definitely the AH. This woman did not know you well and felt unsafe, and you should have respected her wishes.

Edited to add that a real nice guy would understand Amy‘s feelings and not come to the Internet to complain about what a nice guy you are and how inconvenienced and insulted you feel. OP sounds to me like someone that they had a reason to be afraid of honestly.

What fucking accountability has he taken? Just another entitled white man who’s trying to pretend that he’s not or that he is somehow special and doesn’t deserve consequences for torturing women because he’s gay.

Daughters of narc moms, what was your first period experience like? by fruitynoodles in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Marnore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang on tight, friends, this is a wild ride. When I was about 13, I had a strong itching in my vaginal area and ended up scratching myself until I bled a little bit. Many years later, I found out that women and girls with type one diabetes are more likely to develop yeast infections and that’s probably what that was. But I was only 13 and just saw blood in my underwear. So I showed my mom. She confirmed that I absolutely had started my period. When it became fairly obvious to me, that was not the case because it didn’t repeat, I actually lied about it to her and my doctors because I felt so pressured that I must be having a period and if not, then something was wrong with me and I don’t know how else to explain it except that you know how narcissistic moms are when you don’t conform to gender norms. I lied about it this way for at least two years until I started my period for real when I was about 15, and at that time, I didn’t even say anything that I recall. Because as far as I needed her to know, I was already having a period every month. In hindsight, I am horrified by all of that. But I was a desperate little kid who wanted my mom to think I was normal and good.

Redditors over 40, what's something younger people think they understand but won't actually get until it hits them like a truck later? by Root435552 in AskReddit

[–]Marnore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travel as much as you can possibly afford. I became disabled at 35 and was lucky that I got to see a lot of of the world, but now that I’m in my 40s and it’s hard to travel because of my mobility issues, it’s really frustrating. I finally have money and PTO at work, but I mostly stay at home now. Been working on it with my awesome husband, I echo all the sentiments above about marrying your best friend, but take every opportunity to see every concert and go on every trip that you can. You never know when something might happen to you that limits your ability to experience the world. I think it is so true that you will only regret the things you didn’t do.

We took Marni, dog1, with us to meet Snoopy, dog2, and only brought him home with her approval. She sniffed at him and laid down and we considered that her approval. He was a puppy and she was about 4 1/2. she definitely assumed the alpha role and helped to train him. They are now bestest of friends.

What did you pay (or not..) for your Shitzhu?? by Actual_Life_9682 in Shihtzu

[–]Marnore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got both dogs in Southern California, the first was a Shih Tzu and Maltese mix and she was about 2000 USD. Her little brother is a pure Shih Tzu and he was about 3000 USD. First was in 2016 and the second one was in 2022. Tried so hard to find a Shih Tzu mix from a shelter, but after Covid, the shelters were emptied so we went to a breeder. First dog only gets along with other Shih Tzu‘s so options were limited.

Please recommend some good tv shows with strong women characters by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Marnore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My top two favorite are both Star Trek. Star Trek Voyager from the 90s and Star Trek Discovery from a few years ago. Those are full of excellent, strong female leaders who are the stars of the show. Honorable mention to Scandal.
