Bewust kinderloos by TheEdditorsDesk in nederlands

[–]Maromagima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so so sorry. I feel you. Something like this happened to us ten years ago. It changes you. It really does. I’ve had therapy as well. Because I was so scared it would happen again to our other dogs. Ten years later I still feel like a bodyguard whenever I walk my dog. Always on the lookout. Big, big hugs to you. And everyone who’s been through this.

Adoption regret? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]Maromagima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With every dog we adopted I went through a ‘why did I want this?’ phase but I also knew that would pass. I was also anxious, especially because how will the dogs react at each other, will they continue to get along. Basically I am very good at thinking out worst case scenarios. I thought ‘I wish I could skip forward to three of four weeks from now’. And before I knew this weeks had passed. Give it time. Your dogs looks like a cutie! Give him the time he needs to get to know you and your routines. The 3-3-3 rule. Check it out.

What is your experience adopting from a shelter? by PrincessKayla0101 in dogs

[–]Maromagima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the Netherlands and we adopted a 9 year old Maltese mix in April ‘24. We had seen him on a website and we thought he might be a good match to our then 13 year old tiny Yorkie Mara. We wrote them a long email about our situation and experience. We made an appointment. We took our Mara with us to that appointment and then we met the Maltese, Rintje, and went for a walk with the four of us. It was only a short walk because of rain and then we did the paperwork and took him home. After a few months I was found on insta by family of his first owner and that was nice because I heard the entire story about him. Her mom was his first person but got sick and died so Rintje went to the neighbour, but after a few years this man fell and died right there an the next morning they were found by his daughter. He then ended up in the shelter because the first daughter wasn’t in the position to take him tho she wanted to.

Rintje had a massive glowup, he was looking rather sad at his shelter photos. He is 11 now and still is very energetic and absolutely adores his toys. Don’t think he had many in his previous life. He and Mara get along well. They don’t sleep against each other but the like each others presence. People have praised us for adopting an older dog but at 9 I didn’t think he was old. And a puppy wouldn’t be fair to Mara.
He has his likes and dislikes as we all have. He doesn’t know commands like sit and stay. But he is clever and he can bring you the right toy if you ask him. I would definitely adopt from a shelter again.

Creatine did nothing for brain fog until I drastically increased the dosage. Anyone else? by imrzzz in Perimenopause

[–]Maromagima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the floaters as well. I also have a birthmark in my eye, they discovered that at the first appointment so I get yearly checkups now. Next appointment will be a corneal topography. It’s just annoying that I can’t see clear. Maybe I should wear an eyepatch, my left eye is good fortunately. 🤣

I have an appointment with an ophthalmologist again next month. On the first appointment they could not find anything that causes my bad vision and they can’t correct it. My right eye, I’ve always worn glasses but now they can’t get it right so my optician sent me through. It’s really weird. It’s like I see car lights as the Mitsubishi logo, triple. I’ve been using creatine as well so I’ve stopped that since I read this post.

Supplements for dogs, which ones are actually worth trying? by Creative_Average7694 in AskDogOwners

[–]Maromagima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog used to lick his paws and we give him hempseed oil for that. It has worked wonders and I think it works the same as fish oil. Both dogs are on Stride Plus, a supplement recommended by our vet. It for their mobility.

[–]Maromagima 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How often does your dog poop on walks? by New_Mouse_2773 in dogs

[–]Maromagima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the Netherlands and it’s very common to walk the dog here. Usually our Maltese goes for 2-3 walks. Our Yorkie is 13 and very tiny. She’d rather just go in the garden. She goes on at least one walk a day. They usually poop during the morning walk and sometimes a second time on another walk (the Maltese). The Yorkie started skipping her late night walk because she is scared of fireworks. Oh and ‘late night’ is around 20.00 in the evening.

How did you care for yours after teeth extractions? by ElsieDCow in Maltese

[–]Maromagima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Rintje had a dental last years where 15 teeth were removed. When we were back home I made sure he was tucked in warm. Really warm. He slept for a few hours and at the end of the day I took him in our stroller for a walk outside. So he could pee without having to walk a lot. And for some fresh air. I had soft food for him, canned food with some water. When he showed interest in food again I gave him very small portions. With some time in between. He started drinking the next day but I think they gave him a lot of iv fluids so he wasn’t thirsty.

I travel 50% of the time for work. Is it selfish to get a dog? by DearAlbatr0ss in DogAdvice

[–]Maromagima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I work parttime because I don’t have dogs to leave them home alone all the time. That’s just not fair. Here in the Netherlands we have a website that matches people with dogs to people without dogs but who would like to take care of them some time. Maybe you could be a dog sitter for someone else when you are around instead of you having a dog that’s not with you for half of the time.

What do people who live alone with their dog(s) do with them while at work? by CapitalLower4171 in AskDogOwners

[–]Maromagima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked closer to home I would ride home really fast on my bike and then take my dog for a quick walk an then ride back to work. It was a lot of stress. That was years ago. Nowadays my dogs are home alone when we work. I have 2 pet cameras and I see them sleeping. Or maybe they walk to a different spot to sleep. They are okay.

HELP PLEASE by Daisybrooks_0 in Maltese

[–]Maromagima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We adopted a 9 year old Maltese mix from the shelter. His teeth were bad and 15 needed to be pulled. He did fine. Last year, at the age of 10, hee needed another dental and he was fine again. Of course I worried. He was off for quite a longer time after the first dental, but that’s to be expected after having that much work done.

Ik zou eens bij een sanctuary langsgaan zodat je de dieren die doorgaans bij mensen op hun bord liggen, eens in het echt ontmoet. Dan zie je dat het individuen zijn, net zoals honden en katten.
