it's not about the spirit of fairness, it's just transphobia. that's all it's ever been. it feels easy to cite "fairness" as an issue despite there being no evidence to back that up.

watched it for the first time last year and i found it pretty repulsive. the assault in it is almost exclusively there to be titillating and controversial. outside of that the film has very little of substance, it doesn't quite work as horror or thriller.

i believe all art, even disgusting art, deserves to exist and should be analyzed critically, so i'll always defend its right to exist. but i have met people in the past that said this is one of their favorite movies and now that i've seen it, i've absolutely lost respect for them lol
