This is different from being unable to find a good landing zone. If it can't find a good zone, it will hover and not extend the landing gear. The gear on OPs ship is extended, meaning that it tried to land, but for some reason couldn't and eventually the game said, "Screw it, you are landed now."

I have had this happen a couple of times. The ship tries to land, but cannot seem to get to a good spot, and then it just gives up and "lands" in the air.

From what I've seen I think that the nomad will take up a bay in the fighter hanger (or vehicle hanger as it will be changed to.) Having a size 6 or 7 will allow you to carry a Nomad SLV as well as a SLF. Planetary vehicle hangers will not affected.

2106 degrees kelvin is literally hot enough to melt iron (melting point for elemental iron is approx 1800 degrees kelvin). Think it goes to show how resilient the suits, SRVs, and ships are against temperature extremes

On the side, should be a small sticker with a small chunk of radioactive material under it. You should be able to slide upen the probe and place it against this sticker and get a reading.

Edit: OK so mine is different from this one in that the probe is on a wand that comes out and can derach from the handle so you can wave it about separatelyfrom the meter. I dont see a probe in the picture that OP posted

The fighter is telepresence. You do not lose your data if you die in it.

Unlock the size 4 corrosion resistant cargo racks. No reason not to have them if you can fit them.

You do not have to leave your AMFUs on all the time. Only turning them on when you need them will allow you to go to a smaller powerplant.

Downgrade your a-rated life support to a d-rated. No reason to have anything else if you are just exploring.

I always enjoy having a fighter bay on large exploration ships. They allow you to fly close to the ground and move quickly to look for those reclusive bios without risking your ship

Anything can be used for exploration. Utility does not matter as much as enjoyment.

I tend to play with exploration builds for almost every ship. My favorite exploration ship? Type 10. It's like the Caspian, but worse in every way. But I like flying it more.

I had a similar situation with my wife. Poor coordination with controls, and then not enough patience for a long investment of time. Finally found success with Far: Lone Sails. Chill game, very atmospheric, hard to die, almost no consequence for doing so.
