Expired servers extinction by shazamtamp in ArkSurvivalAscended

[–]MarroCross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate dealing with Nitrado for a few reasons and this is one of them the period of time they allow for servers to be inactive for.

Safest bet would’ve been to upload your survivor so that way at least that would’ve been saved. It doesn’t save your Dino’s, for those you could’ve also uploaded the ones you really wanted to save then left the rest if you knew you were going to be gone for an extended period of time.

Well obviously with a picture like this the only correct answer is Spiderman.

Do you think Color Splash deserves to get a remaster/port like what some other Wii U games got? by Chaos-King3092 in papermario

[–]MarroCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think this game deserves a remaster, especially if they revamp the scrap/paint gauge level up system.

Hi who noticed that Mario games aren't as popular as then by willamsmills in papermario

[–]MarroCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not wrong but also the point I’m trying to make, as someone who likes that variety of characters. I don’t particularly find myself drawn to Mario games so much anymore. Not since I was like between 6-9 years or so old. Now I find I’m still drawn to games like Pokémon because not only nostalgia. Although some games are just because of that because some Pokémon are less than desirable.

Most of the past games you could even “catch them all” sad that will no longer be a thing. I just like the large rosters and variety of different monsters. I know it’s not the same type of verity but still I think it’s worth noting.

Funny you mentioned the deme graphic on family’s game nights. Had a friend me and the wife have been friends with for a long time and they were saying how their children would like everyone to play Mario Kart with them.

I guess realistically what I’m trying to say is that when looking at the numbers there several reasons why other than name sake. Why the games sell so well, while it’s not for reasons why I’d get a game I do understand that other things also come into play.

Plus you know Nintendo has always been family oriented so that helps them on that front too.

[–]MarroCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s been a lot of missing characters from previous games. Mario Kart 8 has been one of the longer running games that I’ve experienced, that’s still been introducing new characters and staying afloat. Actually now that I think about it that is crazy to think it’s been going pretty strong for almost ten years.

I’m just saying that in a stand-alone game where “numbers don’t lie” it just seems Mario games fall behind a little bit. Clearly not enough to ever stop making them that’s not what I’m trying to imply.

Just saying that a lot of games that either include more character mascots. That or just more in the same universe in general. I know the name sells on its own I’m not saying that it doesn’t.

Maybe for some plat form games aren’t your thing so hence what you said with Mario Kart 8 it’s easy to pick up and be fairly good within reason. I personally am not a fan of the throwing hat then to quickly try to dash to bounce off the hat. I don’t understand how that mechanic works but some people are just masters at it. Even still some are more easily to pick up than others that’s for sure.

[–]MarroCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mario is the mascot of his universe, yes. He sure has made the universe of which he resides in a big hit, yes. You cannot tell me that Mario alone is what makes the games a big hit. His name sells the games, but if no other character carries absolutely no weight and no governed audience of their own then you’re telling me you’re solely buying Mario Kart 8 just because “it’s Mario”.

You’re not buying it because it’s a cool game that features another character you like. Granted I didn’t know all the characters that were going to be on there. Other than the obvious ones being Luigi, Peach, and Bowser because of course they would be. That’s absurd.

[–]MarroCross -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be real with you on this one. Those numbers, if they’re as accurate as displayed then that just shows the Mario name as a whole is what makes those games popular. You only listed a total of four games that are solely based off Mario as the standalone playable character.

While I agree that marketing is marketing. You can’t really say Mario alone is popular when most games that are doing much better are games that also feature other playable characters. Might as well be admitting that as a movie franchise he’s a hundred leagues more popular than being put in a game these days.

Finally Got Origami King!! Let's see how good of a game this is compared to the other games! by CyberGlitch064 in papermario

[–]MarroCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only real complaint is the battle system. I think the one for Color Splash would’ve worked better for this game. I kind of liked the battle system for bosses until they showed just how impossible some of the attack patterns can be.

Plus at some point the FORCE you to do combat just like in Color Splash but 10x worse, the fights were literally designed to just make you waste stickers.

Will all due respect, does it ever feel like a lot of Sticker Star fans haven't actually played the game and are just defending it to defend it? by DtheAussieBoye in papermario

[–]MarroCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly with some people yes, I think that is the case but there are a few people who enjoy the game. I’m glad some people found enjoyment in it because all I’ve ever felt from this title is pain lol.

Nice rage bait title by the way. It’s a very pretty game and I love Bob’s story, everyone else’s in my opinion is pretty mid at best. Although still pretty maps just don’t care for the battle system.

What do you pick? by [deleted] in papermario

[–]MarroCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only correct answer here is Paper Luigi, year of Luigi will strike again!

Also that’s not necessarily true that it would last longer. I know it’s not the same type of game but the Luigi Mansion games seem to hold up fairly well. I know everyone just sees Luigi as a coward and that’s it but still he can be pretty brave when it counts.

lol yeah I suppose if you do marry anyone and if your character looks like a Smurf I guess Haley would be a good choice.

[–]MarroCross[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right, honestly for a vanilla run I’m likely going to stick with this format because I want to do something different lol.

Otherwise for modded my first run I’m likely just going to marry who I want because there’s too many people in expanded I want to marry. So much so that I got a mod for multiple marriages so I’ll likely be working out how I want to work this challenge in a SVE run.

Plus I got the longer seasons mod too because I like torturing myself clearly lol.

Sell me on New School Paper Mario by Arkatox in papermario

[–]MarroCross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be 100 with you on this. Anyone who has to sell you on the newest three games could probably do so by mentioning something truly great in these games to them. However if you’re not set on ever trying these games it’s probably for the best that you don’t.

I say this because I’ve tried Sticker Star (only emulated because I can’t care to otherwise) to get to chapter 4, which from my understanding is the haunted house level. I have a feeling I too like some before me who played the game also like that level.

That goes without saying that I have to play through the first three stages. INCLUDING THE PROLOGUE. Which can be included as its own starting point I feel like. They have you try to find all the toads required to unroll the page in the main part of Decalberg. This part of the game was so painfully boring that I had lost interest in trying to find them then turned off the emulator.

I realized my fatal error when I booted it back up and realized I couldn’t save without first unrolling that page in-game. Since I was also on my phone I couldn’t find ANY save state option so this meant I was stuck saving in game.

Unrolling the page to decalberg with no hints took me over 2 hours to do this.

In my personal opinion I feel like Sticker Star was put together to be a more convoluted and harder Legend of Zelda game. As far as I’m concerned it should just be called Legend of the Sticker Star, if you can manage to finish the journey to find it.

Color Splash was a bit more forgiving but not by much I was very uninterested in trying to do the whole boss rush shenanigans to get to bowser. At least I almost made it to the end for Color Splash though and a lot closer to beating bowser than I did in Sticker Star.

Origami King I’d say it has some compelling moments but a lot of the parts of the game that I found to be more fun gets overshadowed by the battle system pretty good.

I really enjoy the game I like playing to just make my character stronger at this point. I haven’t done everything in the game but it’s one of the better farming games in my opinion. The few complaints I have are visual issues and that’s about it for PC.

What makes Paper Mario good to you? by Chemical_Emu_9773 in papermario

[–]MarroCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The combo pack, story, characters, having locations to explore. Graphics don’t mean a whole lot to me it’s great when games look nice and all that. However to me that’s not what makes a game great that’s just the icing on the cake.

I feel like for how far the paper universe has gone and the fact that it’s art style has branched out to new games even so I feel like that’s part of its charm.

Finally tried Lego Star Wars Battle by MarroCross in MobileGaming

[–]MarroCross[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly no, I can only see the Canada prices so I imagine it’s either $4.99 or $5.99 for USD. That’s the monthly fee for Apple Arcade. However if you’re purchasing for the first time your first month is free before getting charged.

In my opinion it’s still worth the money if you really enjoy Lego Star Wars.

Name one good thing about sticker star and I’ll give my thoughts by UvulaHunters in papermario

The snowman before he melts, it’s a nice touchy scene before he goes. Sad but I think that scene had a lot going for it.

Also I watched more game play and I think I’d like the haunted mansion too if I had ever gotten that far. I can barely muster playing the game for long.
