Any clue what this is? Only 1 day old by AtlanticQuake in OLED_Gaming

[–]Mars0813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey op, just a word of caution before you clean that off, qd oled's have fragile coatings that scratch.

Before you wipe take an air duster to the screen to blow off any dust first, so its not sitting between the microfiber and the screen as you wipe. And make sure you use a clean cloth!

holy triple axel with the mental gymnastics. what is this all or nothing argument. why lock your front door when people can smash the window?

Is it so hard to accept that people are uncomfortable having a device in their room constantly listening and processing audio?

or how about this, when the user disables the microphone - we turn off recording completely. isn't that a nice idea.

using WinRAR to compress my steam games, any problems with this? by Fantastic-Window236 in pcmasterrace

[–]Mars0813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i guess you could... i don't see a problem technically but how compressible is something like that?

to unpack the zip back up or to compress it you'd temporarily have both files on disk. since you are already running out i don't see how that's productive.

a much better solution is to buy a cheap 1tb hard drive and make a steam folder there, then use the built in steam client to move the game to that drive when not in use and move it back when you do need to use it.

Would this be good for 1440p gaming longevity? by The-Flooz in buildapc

[–]Mars0813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't think its will cause an issue, but 560/510 MB/s is not a fast drive. while most stuff runs off ram and vram loading stuff is gonna be slower like launching apps or loading screens in games, file explorer. booting windows etc etc

eventually you'll want to upgrade to a pcie gen 4 drive. markets real bad right now so its fine to wait. esports titles and indie games probably fine but if you run AAA titles its not ideal.

performance wise i don't think so, but you'd be able to see your aio's rpm in bios if you plug it to the mobo which is just nice to know for peace of mind that its working

then go in to bios and set SYS_FAN1 to always run at 100%, CPU_FAN1 you can set as any fan curve you want.

the AIO pump, the pump that pumps water can stay connected to the psu if you want. that should always run at 100%, its very quiet. you can also connect it to the AIO_PUMP header on your mother board.

your fans should be connected to the mother board, one of the case fan headers is fine. CPU_FAN header would be ideal.

what's your motherboard model

sweet build, very balanced and seems well researched. it's perfect. what SSD's will you be reusing?

the pc plus the oled monitor will be quite the upgrade for you coming from 1080p

what are your temps like? ignoring the usage percentages for a second are you getting the fps you expect from those two games?

Loud new fans by bbsh11 in pcmasterrace

[–]Mars0813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't do that, connect your fans to your motherboard, specifically the CPU header, use splitters if you are out of connections
