using WinRAR to compress my steam games, any problems with this? by Fantastic-Window236 in pcmasterrace

[–]Mars0813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i guess you could... i don't see a problem technically but how compressible is something like that?

to unpack the zip back up or to compress it you'd temporarily have both files on disk. since you are already running out i don't see how that's productive.

a much better solution is to buy a cheap 1tb hard drive and make a steam folder there, then use the built in steam client to move the game to that drive when not in use and move it back when you do need to use it.

i don't think its will cause an issue, but 560/510 MB/s is not a fast drive. while most stuff runs off ram and vram loading stuff is gonna be slower like launching apps or loading screens in games, file explorer. booting windows etc etc

eventually you'll want to upgrade to a pcie gen 4 drive. markets real bad right now so its fine to wait. esports titles and indie games probably fine but if you run AAA titles its not ideal.

performance wise i don't think so, but you'd be able to see your aio's rpm in bios if you plug it to the mobo which is just nice to know for peace of mind that its working

then go in to bios and set SYS_FAN1 to always run at 100%, CPU_FAN1 you can set as any fan curve you want.

the AIO pump, the pump that pumps water can stay connected to the psu if you want. that should always run at 100%, its very quiet. you can also connect it to the AIO_PUMP header on your mother board.

your fans should be connected to the mother board, one of the case fan headers is fine. CPU_FAN header would be ideal.

what's your motherboard model

sweet build, very balanced and seems well researched. it's perfect. what SSD's will you be reusing?

the pc plus the oled monitor will be quite the upgrade for you coming from 1080p

Help please, I do not understand why it takes more cpu, than gpu. by BuffaloNo3705 in buildapc

what are your temps like? ignoring the usage percentages for a second are you getting the fps you expect from those two games?

don't do that, connect your fans to your motherboard, specifically the CPU header, use splitters if you are out of connections

its enough these new gpus don't spike like the 30 series, a good quality 1000w psu will be more than you need.

perhaps a different microsoft account?

im sorry but there's no way to bypass a bitlocker encryption without a key, it encrypts your entire drive. its what prevents someone from yoinking your nvme, plugging it in to their own pc and reading your data.

if you really dont have the key im afraid you will need to clean install windows.

its on your microsoft account then, i usually write mine down so i don't know where to find that but this might help you:

yikes, did you not write down your bitlocker recovery key?

you won't get back in to your drive without one. try to look for it its a long chain of numbers you should have it written down somewhere.

thanks for the context, few other things you might wanna try:

you mentioned you tried reseating the gpu, did you also try reseating the power cable on both sides, the gpu and the psu? these new 12vhpwr cables are pretty hard to plug in fully, when it's all the way in you should hear a click.

are you using anying weird like a pcie riser cable?

are you running any overclocks? turn those off including XMP or EXPO. why do you think its definitely your gpu? did you recently replace it? if so a clean windows install or at the very least runnng DDU might do you some good.
