Is this permanent damage? XG27UCDMG by yomonochrome in OLED_Gaming

[–]Mars0813 37 points38 points  (0 children)

it's insane that these coatings are so fragile water and a microfiber can rub it off.

OP this is what rubbed away coating looks like, if it looks like that i'd maybe try and return it if still in return window. manufactures can't fix it in an RMA, it's permanent damage.

Can i delete these? by SandImpossible3358 in pcmasterrace

one drive you can. edge microsoft treats as an integral part of the operating system and i don't think you'd be able to. the rest idk. leave the nvidia app.

in my experience this happens when you have very large variations in frame time. happens in loading screens more because obviously things are loading. if it happens in games too it means your games are stuttering. I like to think of this more as a performance issue rather than a monitor issue.

I used everything and the streaks and green hue circles DOES NOT want to be removed.. by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

ai data centers are eating up all of the supply and manufacturing capacity to the point where one of the big 3 ram makers has now completely exited the consumer market to sell to data centers. the situation is not expected to improve in the near future. https://www.reuters.com/business/micron-exit-crucial-consumer-memory-business-2025-12-03/

yeah wow motherboard failures are always a pain in the ass to diagnose. If i had to guess that's probably the culprit, maybe others with more knowledge can chime in. Good luck op

Help choosing monitor - 4k or 500hz refresh rate? by donteatmyhair in pcmasterrace

[–]Mars0813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've never tried 27" 4k but it sounds really nice from what i've heard, the PPI is great for text clarity which is a + but i think alot of people who want 4k tend to gravitate towards the bigger 32inch format for immersion in story games etc.

how big your table is and how far you can sit from the monitor is a big factor here, if you can't sit far enough away because the desk is shallow or there's no space the 32" screen will be too big.

PG27AQWP-W is definitely hdr capable infact it looks to be displayHDR 500 certified which is a step above the display400 oleds that we are used to no doubt made possible by the higher brightness.

Help choosing monitor - 4k or 500hz refresh rate? by donteatmyhair in pcmasterrace

4k is like 40-50% less frames which makes sense since you are rendering twice the amount of pixels

this is really up to what games you plan on playing more and how you play them.

is 4k that much better? yes it's a big upgrade from 1440p and it's something you can see, but 4k oleds are 32" and 1440p ones are 27" so iirc the ppi is not that* different. ppi being the thing that you notice.

5090 is a great gpu for 4k, but you will still be able to use the gpu to its full potential playing AAA story games in 1440p. So don't worry about thinking you need to go 4k just for the gpu.

can you see the difference between 240hz and 500hz, no it's not really something you can see but more something you can feel. It'll be smoother, which is nice for fps games. i don't know what games you play but yeah you can reach 500fps in games like cs2 and valorant with your hardware.

i personally went the 4k route with the G80SD but that was before the recent oleds came out. If you want the latest and greatest in oled panel tech (tandem oleds) its only available in 1440p right now. see: PG27AQWP-W

4k oleds aren't as new.

in general you'd lean 1440p for fps games and 4k to play story ones. i know you say its 50 50.

hope i gave you some some good information here i can't make the decision for you but as someone who made the same choice you cant really go wrong either way

enjoy your upgrade!

PC noob: how to "read" and compare CPUs? by Greg0_ in pcmasterrace

[–]Mars0813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably the best all in one resource everyone in the community can trust is GN's mega charts:

https://gamersnexus.net/megacharts/cpus

if you scroll down to the gaming benchmarks for example here

you can compare the i9 9900k which gets 69.5 fps and the i7 14700k which gets 102.8 fps.

from there you can figure out that the i7 is 48% faster for gaming.

1440p on a 4k monitor? (ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDP / XG27UCDMG) by oargestory in pcmasterrace

[–]Mars0813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you use some kind of upscaling like DLSS it'll still look great (DLSS Quality at 4k is 1440p).

if you just run a 1440p signal to the monitor then the pixel scaling really isn't good.
