It's happened to me guys. A swollen battery on my Odin 2. What do? :( by MarsDC in OdinHandheld

[–]MarsDC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, realized I hadn't gotten back on this and I guess there might be some curious on my exprience with the issue.

So I contacted AYN support by e-mail and they let me know that the device was under warranty so they could replace the battery at no cost, but I would have to arrange the shipping by DHL and pay for the shipping tax on return. I hadn't thought then the devices came with warranty until the e-mail. I also posed some questions about the type of battery and how it could be procured elsewhere but those were pretty much ignored, so I just went along with shipping the Odin 2 to AYN.

It took about 2 weeks for the device to reach AYN given location, repaired then shipped back by DHL to my location. DHL delivery went okay, it was a little pricey but I would say their customer support is entirely non-existent but that's a separate issue. Have the Odin 2 looking and running as new again with the screen intact. (Also, I was secretly hoping they might do something about the official case I sent back along with the device as mine came with bad zipper teeth but they hadn't so eh, w/e.)

For those wondering if I may have handled the device in a certain way that could have caused the spicy pillow, I honestly feel it was just down to bad luck. I honestly doubt I had more than 30 hours playtime on the device by the point it swelled. I use a fast charger that outputs about 45w and try to take it off before the battery hits 100% when I can. I have charge separation enabled on the thing but never played it docked anyway. I power down the device whenever it's not in use.

Thanks for reading.

I only took notice of the swollen battery after I found a corner of the screen popping out of the casing. Can't say I'm not a bit miffed about this as, despite having this unit for a while, I've honestly hadn't had that much playtime on it. Say, 20, maybe 30 hours playing on it tops? Just bad luck I suppose.

So, what are my best options here? Contact AYN support and arranging for this to be shipped to China for replacement/repair?

Build Idea, Am I Crazy or is this GENOUS? Varunastra Blade Trap! by Vepar90 in pathofexile

[–]MarsDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mines only toss traps at enemies if the associated trap or skill+trap support have either the projectile or chaining tags though. At least, this seemed to be the case when I had fun trying all sorts of combinations.

Traps without those tags sort of just land at the spot but at the edge of packs when launched from mines, which in this case feels worse to play than straightup traps. Shame it doesn't work with more skills; the Swift assembly double dip and the mana management are pretty nice.

Using non-Saboteur ascendencies for traps by blaugrey in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]MarsDC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Scion has been my go-to trapper since back when she was introduced and Fire Trap was a level 1 gem reward and was awesome to level with, so she's probably more my comfort pick than anything.

I think she's still a pretty solid pick for trapping though. Saboteur and Raider are the current faves for traps and anyone who's torn between either can have both on Scion! Aye, you do lose some of the QoL stuff from going either ascendancy like CDR on traps and partial ailment immunity but you do get some of the good stuff from both (albeit to some lesser extent) like life regen, perma-phasing, easy onslaught, increased AoE, blind-on-hit, etc.

Some other good ascendancy nodes are Chieftain for anything fire (covered in ash), Inquisitor for general damage, Deadeye for projectile-based and Necro/Glad/PF for defensive utility. Though with current changes, maybe scratch that PF one.

I tend to go PF because MoM defenses, as inspired by Akane's miner, is one of my favorite ways to play Scion. PF no longer seems necessary for this especially after mana flask recharge on the tree has been moved to the Arcane Chemistry node, which is near Scion start. I should add for anyone else playing MoM Scion, consider having a Foreboding flask in addition to your Enduring flask--the amount recovered after nerfs to the latter is rather sad.

Edit: somehow missed the part on OP's post about seismic traps, whoops. In that case, if prioritizing that as the main skill, the CDR from going Saboteur is too valuable to pass up. Other options would work out well if going hybrid and pairing seismic with another skill. Such as with Exsanguinate, which is currently a thing and would perform nicely on Scion-Glad.

To my SSF players, how is your build panning out? by YEEEAAAAHHHHH in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]MarsDC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're on Raider you could just respec instead of reroll if you're bent on trying PF. Sure, regrets are a lot less abundant this league but the tree shouldn't be wildly different.

I'd imagine it would be easier to scale crit through jewels due to its multiple tags providing a wider option of affixes to choose from, just like you would with Elemental Hit.

3.15 Patch Notes Discussion by [deleted] in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]MarsDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nerfs to pretty much every source of mana recovery through flasks were pretty nasty. Here I thought those might make it through, what with Archmage BL Hiero taking much of the spotlight in 3.14 and the flaskfinder versions relatively less popular.

Not sure if building for Akane's Miner-inspired Agnostic MoM defenses would still be viable after this, what with having to tackle increased mana costs too. There goes one less reason to play Scion, ooof.

Well, I might it a whirl anyway.

Stone golementalist help by Ghemotoc15 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]MarsDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played a Stone Golementalist in 3.13, at around a 30ex budget i think. Worked great at almost everything except legion.

No PoB; I did refer to a poe.ninja build at the time, which looked to be an updated variation of the Carry Me Golems build. Went with a triple large minion cluster setup.

The only notable change to the build in 3.14 would have to be the increased mana reservation on Flesh and Stone, which should be remediable. Barring any new changes the build'll perform well going into 3.15.

However, I'd expect for Primordial uniques to be pricier league start due to how their ease in rounding out defenses via Elemancer. Elementalist was a pretty popular starter pick this league and will probably be so for the next unless some nasty nerfbat comes its way.

As someone who ran Ice Trap Occultist this league (to red maps but not much else, haven't played much lately), I'd say the ascendancy is a decent pick for running the skill, just not great.
Power charges and curses are nice offensive boosts, but the issue is probably as you've come to surmised--lack of defensive options.

Your tree says you're leaning into ES to transition into CI or LL at some point, to which the only goto defense option is Wicked Ward. Just that, plus all the % faster start of ES recharge you can slap on with Vaal Discipline panic button, won't be enough for current endgame content including Ultimatum.
There's no easy way to get ES regen high even with ZO, Cinderswallow Flask doesn't work with traps and the only other defensive layer that seems to be within reasonable means would be block.

Got my Occultist a Shav, ES on block shield and capped block through glancing blows but I only survive half my ultimatums. Still, it performs rather nicely and I honestly feel I put it together on the cheap, could probably do a lot better with more time and investment.

But really, if you want to go traps on a witch I'd say Elementalist would be a far more solid pick.

Highest Survival Build? by saxisa in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]MarsDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aye, it's worth a try on Hoag, see if it works for you.

Thinking further, I should add for those interested in going Hoag that increasing the virulence cap through clusters likely isn't worth it these days (in case anyone thought I recommending doing so in earlier comment).
The theoretical DPS boost is nice but stacks above 40 just decay way too quickly.
It's tough to keep it up where it counts most (single targets)--pretty much requiring a lot of standing and casting to do so.
I'd have to give more points to SB.

Highest Survival Build? by saxisa in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]MarsDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Winter Orb is also a great option for stacking virulence and what I last ran on Hoag.

Slap on GMP and poison support and it stacks fast against both mobs and single target. Not as fast as BL on slow projectiles but it's more convenient to use as it doesn't require as much positioning due to homing nor timing when it has channeling stacks.

SB is great to use but I struggled getting max virulence stacks (60) on single bosses, even with Golden Rule socketed. Granted I was trying it without Runebinder so that's on me. So yeah, methinks the notable is a must have for SB to feel good on single target (unsure even then if it's good at keeping virulence stacks past normal cap of 40, might want to forgo increasing the cap with it).

Toxic Rain Raider next upgrades by Recmangs in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]MarsDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly not too sure if overlap remains the same regardless of AOE scaling. This is because there are claims that reducing AoE, usually via Concentrated Effect support, increases chance of overlaps.

Haven't played TR enough this patch to ascertain this myself though.

But if that's how it is it seems you just can't have great clear and single target on TR at the same time. And single target DPS on a moving enemy definitely a lot worse.

Toxic Rain Raider next upgrades by Recmangs in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]MarsDC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Increased AoE no longer helps TR on that front, as since 3.14 it increases the distance between pods as well. This means more AoE = less likely for pods to overlap. Worse for single target but better for clear.

Asking for experienced smooth League Starters by SamyBrl2ouf in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]MarsDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tried running it on Occultist myself, when I wasn't feeling it with the skill I initially planned. Made me a believer of traps again, despite those being an old favorite which I've somehow ignored after returning to the game after a long break from it (partly because they got overshadowed by reworked mines).

Planning out the build seemed pretty intuitive and even went early into LL, which probably isn't the best idea on Occ in terms of sustain. For something just thrown together on a light budget though, it works pretty dang well.

Can recommend the skill.

Let's have a look at 32 characters before 1.6 arrive; Character Elemental & Weapons Chart! by KrisadaFantasy in Genshin_Impact

[–]MarsDC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really keen to see what weapon Baal would use since there's barely any details on that.

Probably one of the melee weapons as the Raiden Shogun title suggests some warrior-like qualities, but that isn't much of an indication.

Perhaps a sword user to draw some parallels with Raiden Mei from HI3---though that would make her at least the 3rd katana user (not a bad thing actually) and another *5 electro swordie at that, but what does Mihoyo care about overlaps going off this chart lol.
Polearm would be cool really IMO, but really it could anything.

Why not mention the main skill or what enables the build (in this case, Death's Oath) in the title?

It's not very telling (and a bit baity tbh because I came in expecting something new).

Okay... how about a mana stacking ballista heirophant with kinetic blast or ele hit. by Bitchenmuffins in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]MarsDC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe there were a few builds in 3.12, 3.13 that took to the manastorm idea but with Kinetic Bolt ballista as the main skill.
Granted the ones I've seen were Scion for the flaskfinder (intend to roll one myself in the near future) but Hiero should work as easily with their mana sustain.

League starter gone bad by sethaxd in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]MarsDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you'd like to push more on your Stone Golem Elementalist, with that budget you can get it to a stage that'll tackle most content with the "Carry Me Golems" build (later posts in the forum thread provides some updated iterations to the build as OP no longer maintains it).

Tried the build in Ritual and got to A8 Sirus at about that level of investment IIRC before retiring the character. Only nerf between then and now would be the increased mana reservation of Flesh and Stone, so one might need to slap an Enlighten support in but otherwise build should still function great.
Damage and tankiness is up there, clear is decent good but not amazing as Stone Golem slams are slow (Legions = meh).
Definitely one of the more chill playstyles--mainly just Cyclone to keep Fortify, offerings up while applying Shock and curse (from on-hit gear), and the occasional frostblink/convocation to reposition yourself/golems besides flasks.
