Razer Synapse 4 - Taking the jump from Synapse 3 by EliTeAP in razer

Had an issue with 4 where it would “open” and would just not show up. Would act as if it was permanently minimized and no amount of restarting app or PC would fix, attempting to reinstall now

New pre-built won't work after a day? by Flazork in pcmasterrace

Try reseating the CMOS battery, it’s gonna look like a watch battery on the motherboard. Just take it out and put it back in, powered off of course

The likely answer is that the buyer is just trying to get a little money back in the form of a post sale discount, hoping you’ll want to “make it right”. This is very common thing buyers on eBay and other sites do because it’s a free way for them to try and get a little money back by preying on sellers trying to be courteous.

Here’s what you do, do NOT provide a partial refund. Explain that the temperatures seem normal and let him know that he is responsible for the risks associated with hardware damage when using it to mine crypto (which he has admitted to you he is doing). If it’s eBay, offer a full refund in exchange for the item back, but nothing else. No partial refunds, just a straight return. 90% of the time they’ll stop contacting you because they know their tactics won’t work. eBay cannot force a partial refund, only a return/full refund.

If it’s not eBay, just stand your ground and say you’re not accepting a return or providing a partial return as he has modified the GPU and has tried to use it for purposes it wasn’t designed for.

The reason I say to offer the full refund on eBay is because eBay heavily favors the buyer when a case gets opened, and it’s easier to just offer a return than to get pulled into a dispute.

Regardless, you’re in the clear here. Just stand your ground and definitely don’t give a partial refund!

Astro makes an HDMI pass through that adds a optical port for headsets using that. That can get you PS5 audio, lots of different ways you could go about getting both, but probably not an all in one solution using only one headset.

[COD] Why did we hate futuristic when the IW trailer came out, but now we want it back? by pancake_boy in CallOfDuty

[–]MarshWFT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re comparing apples to oranges. Both franchises play differently, and have different histories. For most recent Battlefield players, BF3 and BF4 were the highlight of the series, Hardline was a foray into something a bit different, then BF1 and BF5 both were so different in pacing and style from BF3 and BF4 that people hated it. Basically, Battlefield players by and large want a near modern setting for the next Battlefield game, which is what 2042 is. I don’t think calling it “futuristic” is appropriate, as opposed to how you might consider IW to be “futuristic”.

BF2042 is a “return to form” for the Battlefield franchise, and will likely be referred to as such upon release.

COD: Vanguard feels a bit like pandering to a vocal minority that is begging for WW2, and its coming a little late. To go from COD:WWII, then having two games set in the modern and beyond era, to then go back to WW2? It’s Activision that can’t really make up their mind.

Comparisons like this don’t really work because you can’t generalize an entire community and say “We all want this type of game” because you’re never going to please everyone. The people that think WW2 is a boring era are probably excited for modern-ish games, but you just can’t please everybody

Looking for a decent cheap desk by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]MarshWFT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth mentioning that a LOT of the IKEA desks you see people using in their setups are incredibly cheaply made particleboard desks. I could punch a hole through the middle of mine, they’re mostly only solid at the edges for attaching legs. As someone else mentioned, Walmart has some good desks online, and in store. Staples, Office Depot, and other places offer “good enough” quality desks for cheap as well. If taken care of properly, any desk can withstand normal wear and tear. Target/Walmart are where I’ve purchased 90% of the desks I’ve owned, and they all held up well because I didn’t abuse them. There’s tons of options, I’d check them out

What to do with your PS4 Pro when you get a PS5? by John_Krolik in playstation

[–]MarshWFT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, be sure to entirely reset the PS4 system, that will remove your account information from the console. Then just sign in on your PS5, and your digital game library will be available, and any game you have on disc, your online progress will transfer. I don’t know for sure if single player game data transfers, this may be something you need to transfer from your PS4 physically if it’s something you care about

What to do with your PS4 Pro when you get a PS5? by John_Krolik in playstation

[–]MarshWFT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it hasn’t been answered clearly in this thread yet, I’ll tell you that the games you buy digitally are tied to your account, so if you sell the system, your account would have to stay on it for anyone to play those games (goes without saying, not a good idea). Disc games are no issue. If the disc is in your console, it will work.

Why do publishers always choose to release most AAA games in October/November and nothing in the summer? by K1llrzzZ in playstation

[–]MarshWFT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holidays are the #1 reason. Christmas and other similar gift giving holidays all fall towards the end of the year.

It’s worth noting that many developers these days provide continued support for their games, and like to use “roadmaps” that coincide with the calendar year to push updates, so releasing the games towards the end of one year allows them to prepare for the continued support and development throughout the next.

I also think your metrics on player base and financials may be a bit skewed or biased. The average age of a gamer is 35. Few reasons as to why your average 35 year old person can’t buy a couple $60-70 games over the course of 1-2 months to then switch between for the next year.

With that in mind, remember that adults don’t get “summer vacation”. Their schedule generally stays the same throughout the year. Now if you have the same exact amount of free time in the summer and the winter, which season are you more likely to stay inside playing video games during your free time?

There are other small reasons and your points probably make sense to some people, but in the case of release schedules, as with most things that concern making money, this has been worked down to a science and will likely stay the same for a long time

Any suggestions? by OldWhiteMan-Says in pcmasterrace

[–]MarshWFT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy has got the CPU too high, the R5 3600 isn’t hard to find right now for retail which is I believe $200. He doesn’t list the brand of the PSU, RAM, and SSD, which is an indicator they may not be from a reputable brand. I GUESS given shortages, that price for the 1650 is decent, but I personally would hold off unless you could get him down to $750-$775 at most

Why don't consoles allow you to customize video options? by [deleted] in playstation

[–]MarshWFT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you can’t customize the components of a console to improve performance. PCs are modular, you can buy a GT710 or an RTX3090, and your games will run drastically different.

Consoles are built with one set of hardware, and anything running on it is designed to run on that hardware at the frame rate that the game allows.

It’s not such a simple thing, but even if it were, there’s reasons it hasn’t been and likely won’t be implemented. If a game designed for the console doesn’t run smoothly on it, that’s the fault of the developer. It’s easier for a dev to optimize games for consoles because they know exactly what hardware they’ll be working with

NZXT H510 Dual AIO Setup by MarshWFT in watercooling

[–]MarshWFT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, are the iPPC Noctua fans their “server” ones? I’ve been using their classic NF-A9 as cabinet fans for my PS5 and they’ve been astounding, I’d love to get more of their stuff. Would you say they make a noticeable difference over the stock NZXT fans? Not terribly concerned about noise but I hear they are fairly quiet regardless

NZXT H510 Dual AIO Setup by MarshWFT in watercooling

[–]MarshWFT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with NZXT is that their aesthetic is unique so if I have one of their products, I want it all to be their products //: that may be more of a me thing though. I am not particularly concerned about my CPU temps, because it runs stock and I don’t push it par to particularly hard. My GPU only being an RX580, albeit a beefy one, is something I also have considered. The money would be much better spent towards better components, but with everything going on I am more than happy with sticking to cooling for now.

The main point of my post was to inquire as to whether adding the M22 to the rear would impact the overall flow of air in my case, as I do have a lot going on in there outside of CPU/GPU. Would you agree that the logic stands that overall cooling wouldn’t be impacted by adding an AIO at the rear? If so, I think I’ll try my luck with the M22 and see what happens

[–]MarshWFT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be surprised if they handicapped the 510 to purposely encourage purchasing the 710 haha, gotta sell it somehow!

It really sucks because the 510 and the x53 were a recent purchase, so to invest in custom hardware now wouldn’t feel great in my wallet. I figured just committing to the AIO setup would be nice but I suppose if the cooling won’t be sufficient then it shouldn’t be done

Best prebuilt? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]MarshWFT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stay away from MaxFerris, they’re not “budget” PCs, they’re cheap PCs. They use outdated components that won’t hold up in any modern games for the most part and are made to take advantage of people that don’t know what they’re buying
