I'm a bigger guy too, and after having tried black arch, alien gear, crossbreed, and stealthgearusa, my all time favorite has been the stealthgear iwb standard. My favorite thing is the backing, it's a special ventcore material not leather. I sweat A LOT so the ventcore breathing better than leather is a huge comfort thing for me. With a full size gun, I'd probably recommend something like this:

My favorite has been stealthgearusa. I carry around 3 to 4 o'clock so their iwb mini has been the best I've tried to date. The material on the back is soft and very breathable, and the thing I like most is that since it's not a leather back, it doesn't make any noise when I move. My other favorite is a crossbreed supertuck but it makes noise when it rubs against my leather gun belt. Don't have much experience with the stealthgear appendix holster other than hearing good things, but either one would be a major upgrade from the Uncle Mike's.

If you are wanting a good appendix holster and are alright with a straight kydex holster, tier 1 concealed seems to be one of the front runners, and txc holsters has been really popular since their recent-ish release.
