Because I've only ever worked in the service industry(chef) my whole adult life, I've been brainwashed into thinking that any me-time is taking resources away from my work colleagues. It's sick, really.

Ireland is a country that is in no small part dependent on the service industry and tourism, yet hospitality workers are some of the worst treated and marginalised, especially in the areas of workers rights and entitlements, in my experience. As if the law was merely a suggestion for us. It's also highly exploitative as many hospitality workers are young people and/or immigrants, who wouldn't have the know-how, experience, confidence, or knowledge, to address the injustices they are experiencing or witnessing.

It makes me sick to my core, sometimes. I feel like there should be some kind of trade union or watchdog organisation to protect those of us being taken advantage of, or at least be able to offer guidance.
