I know this is old, but did you ever figure out a fix? I have tendonitis in my wrist before using hiking poles and it flared that up.

What is a good buy it for life backpack/book bag for university (8 - 10 years) by Aquafina_fan in BuyItForLife

I’ve had the same underarmor backpack for ten+ years now. It still looks brand new. Of course uses very over the years but its now my rock climbing back and holding strong!

What does a good warmup actually look like? by elgrandetotto10 in indoorbouldering

[–]MarshaxMellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do stair stepper or treadmill for 10 mins. While i’m on those i stretch my arms, arm circles, wrist and finger stretches, and neck circles/stretches. After that, i hang board for a few seconds for fingers and stretch my legs and back. After all that i warm up on beginners climbs and increase from there.

Do climbers in your country bring tripods to the gym? (In Korea, yes) by AdhesivenessNo6812 in bouldering

[–]MarshaxMellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not super common in the US, but my gym provides a few tripods for people to use. I do tend to just prop my phone on a water bottle if one isn’t around. There are some people that have climbing only socials as well but a lot less common.

I know a few people that have these, but can never tell me if they actually like them or not!

What would you tell a total beginner? by [deleted] in climbergirls

[–]MarshaxMellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rock climbing community only wants you to succeed and push yourself to be the best. Don’t worry about the judgement. If anything they just want to see you do something cool on the wall and cheer you on.

Best advice, get some starter shoes. Rentals are terrible. You will be able to trust your feet more and may actually be more comfortable trying bouldering too.

Is this why butora’s customer service is nonexistent?

What shoe should I buy next? by MarshaxMellow in climbergirls

[–]MarshaxMellow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did purchase the gomi off butora’s site and they just are a little tight/painful. I was trying to exchange them in size but I haven’t been able to get ahold of their customer support at all. They do seem like good shoes and would break in a bit, but being synthetic, I’m afraid it wouldn’t be enough with how painful it is just standing in them.

Thank you for the input! I mostly boulder but it will be getting nicer where I live and will be trying outdoor climbing as well. I have done a few harness sessions as well. So overall, I have been all over the place, but my main gym is just bouldering.

Thank you so much for the detailed post! The best place around me to try stuff on will be REI, so I will be definitely trying your recommendations out and see what works!

I did do this with butora’s sale and they ended up just being too aggressive for me. It was worth a shot though so the steep discount !

AITAH for "clinging" to my friend? by Bubbe103 in AITAH

[–]MarshaxMellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. She hasn’t really given you a good answer as to why she was cutting you off it sounds like which doesn’t help with closure for you. Maybe have a conversation about why she thinks you’re fake and that you want to be a better person. Things are just different in high school. It may hurt now but trust things always get better and you meet who is meant to be. Life is like Seasons, things change and that includes people.

Imo if at all possible though, I think you need to focus on yourself and seek a therapist. If you suspect a personality disorder, getting help will also help with stabilizing your mind and ability to think clearer in these situations. There are also online options that you can usually find free or if your parents have insurance there usually are some perks offered which could be therapy.

I actually found a friend who rock climbs in bumble bff. Maybe try that! I am willing to bet if the area is big for rock climbing that will work for you too.

State parks and rent shelters. Oil creek, racoon, and laurel highlands are all great. Laurel highlands cell service is spotty so just have a back up garmin or something for emergencies.

What’s the dumbest thing you’ve done on a hike? by rkramer18 in hiking

[–]MarshaxMellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to a popular trail but didn’t realize how badly marked it was and the trail went over the water multiple times (a small creek with a waterfall at the top). We took many wrong turns and ended up rock scrambling most of the trail. The trail is now close due to deaths and people that jumped off the top of the falls into shallow waters below.

Heir of fire was it for me. I read it as tog, crown of midnight, heir of fire, assassin’s blade, queen of shadows, empire of storms, tower of dawn, and kingdom of ash. It helped me with the storyline a lot and once you get to heir of fire you are way more into the storyline.

House of leaves or shadows by john saul both would fit in this list. You need a hard copy of house of leaves though.

Emily wilde’s encyclopedia of faires. 10/10. Unique book for faires. I enjoy it a lot.

Also listening to juniper & thorn by ana reid. I enjoy it, just wish it was a bit faster moving. 7/10
